Can you elaborate? I've never done anything real special with "breaking" in pads or anything. Never have had issues. It's almost like there's something clogging the line like I said above. The pedal gets really hard but there's almost no braking force.

I still need to try to bleed it more, get any air that might be trapped out, I will do that saturday probably. Good news is I can still ride with a ****** rear brake lol.

Went riding sunday and half way through the day my rear brake slowly started working. By the end of the day it was working like normal, I had good braking power. It really baffled me at first, but then I think I figured out what happened. When I did the front rotor I used ~300 grit, I think. And it worked well immediately. When I did the rear rotor I think I used ~600-800 grit or so. So maybe it was too smooth and the more I used it(I used it even when it wasn't doing anything, out of habit), it slowly got better. By the end of the day it felt correct again.

I don't know if that's the same as what you are saying kona, but either way it works now...

The bike ran great, I'm going to clean it up one of these days and post some pictures.

lol you didnt read anything about the bed in procedures did you. its not a bunch of BS...it makes a difference.

^kona I had watched it when you posted it but was at work so no sound lol. I was going to watch it again at home when I went to fix the problem but like I said I didn't have time to get into it this weekend(we finished up the garage ceiling saturday).

so instead of the video in the first link you can just read it, it says the same thing. the second one is a short read but with less detail.

hm I just made a post but it didn't go through...

Yeah sorry man I honestly didn't even see anything except the video. I'll go back and read through it(I just read the second link since it was short). I'm thinking this is what was happening on my bike. Seems odd though as I literally had no braking force.

I've never even heard of "bed in" before but I suppose it makes sense. That's a good article and I will be doing this next time I switch out my pads [up]

If the police show up right now, just wave and yell out the window that you can't stop because you're performing a scientific experiment.

Lol I'm sure they will understand

wow, didn't realize you had put this much work into your bike sean. pretty cool and an incredible transformation that has evolved. very nice work and dedication. I will have to take a closer look at it next time. also glad I didnt hurt it with my......issue. lol

Bedding in performance brakes is no joke! I haven't done so on the Buell yet but will be soon. I did it on my Mustang which has hawk pads on it and before I did the bedding procedure, I thought something was seriously wrong with the braking system. After heating things up good as described it was a whole new system and has been fine since.

Sandro after seeing your post I just realized he missed updating this thread with the 5-0 mod he made during the Dragon

True but wasn't gonna say anything! ;)

Yes! I haven't updated this in awhile. Honestly have just been extremely busy. I was planning on taking some pictures of the sliders and posting them(not that a million others haven't lol). But I think they look great on my bike. Also this week I got my cell phone mounted up and ran a power wire to charge it. Turned out really clean and works great. I'll post some pictures during the week sometime when I have time to take pictures.

Something else I didn't post in here is the issue I had with my fuel pump. It quit on me like a week before the dragon trip. I have a whole different thread on it, and the bike has run great since:

I'm going to do my muffler next, and get a wideband and do some tuning. I might do some head work and put on the larger 12 TB next year sometime if I get good with the tuning. Ericz has been nice enough to offer all kinds of advice, and I'll surely be taking him up on the offer!

There's not a whole lot more I want to do with the bike after that, maybe small things like repad the seat(make it comfy), change the turn signals/tail light, add the voltage gauge...can' really think of anything else(maybe some 5-0 case sliders).

And yes John I'm extremely glad your muffler didn't decapitate me lol. I swear it was less than a foot away from hitting me. That would be quite a hit at ~70mph lol.

Well turns out I do have some pics on the computer...

5-0 sliders(I love the black/silver look):

Cell phone mount. It's pretty self explanatory what I did. I copied other peoples setups basically. But I put a tack weld between the threaded rod and the upper nut or whatever you call it. I welded it so it doesn't loosen. Then painted it so it doesn't rust. There's just a washer/nut underneath. I don't have a pic of the actual cell phone cradle but I took a holster thing and broke off the belt clip then ran a bolt through it and it threads in to that upper nut thing. Works really good. I'll post more pics later. My only concern is if I bottom out I think the fender may hit the nut under the lower triple tree... Oh and I used a piece of heater hose just to absorb some vibration(although it still vibrates like crazy lol). Not sure that's good for the phone but oh well...it's a company phone lol.

And a peak at the next mod. Since I did the exhaust on my truck and had the stock muffler I cut it open to steal the baffles to use to make a muffler on the buell:

Might not be quite to a million yet but getting closer every day! ;) Thanks!

can' really think of anything else(maybe some 5-0 case sliders)

We're ready when you are! Just let us know! [up]

Good luck with the exhaust! I hope it turns out how you want it to!

I haven't posted in a while but I haven't really done anything or been riding much. I did ride last weekend and this weekend and put about 500 miles on the bike. I had a couple months of not riding thinking I should sell or get a 1125cr or something but after these last 500 miles I fell in love again :). I intend to do some more tlc in the next few weeks and still plan to modify the muffler soon then have the header and muffler all ceramic coated black.

Also now thinking of bar end mirrors. I don't know if I'll like the look but worth a shot. I know the stock mirrors are nearly useless and many say bar end mirrors work great.

I love my bar end mirrors, they weren't cheap but there is no vibration in them, and I have great crystal clear rear views on both sides.

I just picked up a set for $50 on sale at cycle gear, they are really nice. I need to do the rubber stopper mod that sandro posted though to mount them. So I will do that when I have some free time maybe during the week or next weekend. Looking forward to doing something to the bike lol.

Excellent deal, I'm certain you'll be very pleased with them. I find being able to see well behind and to either side without having to turn my head very reassuring when there are cagers around…
