Spark plug write up?

Needing a little help here... I'm in the process of changing my spark plugs. I have the front one in but can't seem to get the boot all the way on. I'm replacing them with NGK 9s and was wondering if it was normal to have a little bit of the white showing on those plugs or do I need to keep trying to push it down. It seemed like it snapped in but there is about a 1/4" of white showing on the spark plug. Thanks for the help.

I think you are in good shape, the boots usually don't go all the way down to the base of the plug.

old thread, i know. I'm not super awesome at working on my motorcycle by a long shot. I just changed my spark plugs on my xb12r and I just wanted to say I AM MAN!! NOTHING CAN STOP ME!! feelsgoodman. (went with iridiums by the way.) It took me a while for the first time around. Its a lot harder to do than on the old harleys I ride, but it still ended up being fun. thats my two cents I guess.

[up] I am man! Funny. Changed mine out a couple weeks ago and it took me forever to get them back in. Just couldnt get my big hands in there to guide them straight. Was afraid I was going to crosses thread.

I have a 2006 XB12. Anyone have a PN for the NGK irridium plugs and best place to get them (local MC stores, parts stores?). I really don't want to have to order them and wait a week since I'm planning on doing all required service this weekend.

Recommended plug gaps for the NGKs?

Which anti-seize do you recommend due to the heat?

Appreciate any info.

NGK# DCPR9EIX - They come pre-gapped at .035" gap. I always check them @ the counter because it's easy to break the electrode trying to gap yourself. Any anti-sieze they have handy. I've gotten the plugs at Autozone & O'Reilly's, though both had to order them - took 5 days or so.

I have both the digital and hard copy service manual. Great investments. Very good write up here. Another rep vote from me. [up]

Tried to order them from Autozone, but of course, they need to specify vehicle brand and type to order them. No Buell or Harley as an option.

Tell them it's for a 2000 Ferrari 456-M OR an 2006 Aprilia Tuono R. I've never been asked - what business is it of theirs anyway?
