Stopped by cop, what should I do?

Anyways, I got pulled over by a state cop, my plate is bent up under my chopped tail and very hard to see. Cop came up, said "oh you do have a plate". I asked if he would suggest I bend it back down. He mentioned that then it might hit my wheel if I hit a bump. Let me go, no warning. Let me remind you, I have it about parallel to the undertail. Nice guy.

Yeah, I decided I'm taking it to court. I'll fix it. Probably put it under the tail light. I'll take some pics before and after and show it to judge saying I fixed it and I didn't know it's improper 'cause I saw it before on a lot of different bikes so I assumed it was ok.

Out of curiosity: anyone know the reason why vertical placement of license plate is illegal?

thats what i was going to suggest. just fix it and say you didnt realize it was illegal.

In Florida a vertical plate used to be 99.00 non moving with a 1000.00 enhancement fine for a total of $1099.00. The enhance recently got removed but it still remains for wheelies and 50+ over speed limit.

I will say the vertical plates, one attached to the side and bent up ones are very difficult to read.

Bright why do you get mad at police for enforcing the laws. I don't agree with every law I have to enforce, but last time I checked the police don't make laws. You may want to direct that anger toward the elected lawmakers if you would like things changed.

A week ago I got a mail from the court with the court date on 01/04/2011 at 1:30 pm.

This is the way I fixed it. Fabricated some bracket and put it under the tail. It's temporary cause I still want to put it on the side of the bike. I'm waiting for axle sliders from 50Dro and than I'll look for the bracket that allows to install it horizontally (the right way) but still on the swing arm.
