Hi all can you guys please give me some feedback on duel sport tires for the Uly. It is used more on tar than on dirt. Thanks [up] Need to get some in the next few months.

yep...still very happy with them.

but i'm thinking of my next set...

either the dunlop d211, metzler sportec m3 (again) or wait for the new michelin power one.
the new michelin is supposed to come directly from the supersport...but i'm thinking this will cost me in mileage, same as the dunlop d211gp

You should look at the Bridgestone BT-002 RS's if you want to try something different than the PP's. A lot of the sport bike guys I know like them who also have used the PP2ct's
how about mileage?
i just don't like the fact that there's no thread pattern at all on the flanks...when the road is moist or dusty, you probably pay the price.

another option, the new metzler racetec k3
argh...to many choices, brain overload...

LeFox,

I went from PP2ct's to Dunlop GP racers and have been well impressed. I must admit I always found the Pilot Powers a little skittish but the Dunlops are rock solid with awesome feedback. I will be going for D211's next time.

you do have to make sure you compare tires in the same class.
the pilot power en the pp2ct are street tires with race capabilities.
gp racers & d211's are both more trackday tires and above price & wear range of the pp.
sure they give better grip & feedback, but you will
1) pay more
2) have to change more frequently

the idea of this thread was to get a good quality tire within a certain price-range with good performance and mileage.

in your case, i would compare the d211's with the new michelin power one or the power racer...

running the dunlop road smart 4k so far and holding up ok

I'm looking at buying a set of the Michelin pp2ct. Should I go to the local harley dealer or can I find them somewhere online at a better price? Thanks.

I switched from Conti Road Attacks to Michelin Pilot Road 2ct's last may on my Triumph Sprint ST, can't tell you many miles, because at 6,000 and four laps of the Nordschliefe, they still look new. I scrape pegs with my girlfriend on the back. I picked up my 09 Uly last week of July and have 1500 miles on it and they seem to wear alright. Scraped the pegs riding up in the Odenwald, haven't gotten to the Schwartzwald, Black Forest yet. So take your pic. The Conti's were my track day tire on a Katana 750 and worked great, knee draggin time. Only reason I didn't like them is my Triumph ate them for lunch, rear every 3k miles.

Im running the Pirelli Diablo Rosso's. On my 2nd rear, (3 Diablo's previously) first front (3k in). I really like them. Im getting 6k out of the rears commuting and playing in the hills on weekends. They warm up fast and i lack any sign of chicken strips. Work well in rain as well as long as you got a little heat in them.

I have a chance to pick up a set of Dunlop Sportmax Qualifiers for a good price. Are they a good tire for my 08 XB12Ss?

ok my dunlop road smart hit the tread bars on my 2k+ trip around 6k in miles but on the plus side i got 400 mile twisty ride and the outside compound is sticky as a racde tire but wears as fast two.
going to trie and ride it out the rest of the season maybe try a 190 50 17 the front still has plenty of tread so i am sticking with the road smarts

Tin Man...I ran the Qualifiers as my last set. They are very good all around tires, the wear pretty fast though. I switched to the Bridgestone BT016 and like them just as well.
