Ticket for wind screen

Did you only get tagged for the windshield? CA is getting very aggressive in ticketing motorcycles that have ANY exhaust changes from stock. It is an EPA violation to modify a stock exhaust in any way (yeah, that means any aftermarket not DOT stamped exhaust part is illegal no matter how quiet). Most states require rear reflectors. A lot of states require a rear plate to be displayed perpendicular to the ground and to have lights on it. Most of our bikes could be ticketed for unlawful equipment. Never heard of the windshield thing though. If that's all you got ticketed for you might be able to have it dismissed. Be careful though, some states allow a prosecutor to tab charge you for additional offenses after the fact if the officer wrote down all the details in his notes for the violations he warned you for.

(d) No person shall sell, offer for sale, or operate any motor vehicle equipped with red, blue, or amber translucent aftermarket material in any partitions, windows, windshields, or wind deflectors.

This says you can not have a red translucent AFTERMARKET windshield. Yours is OEM not a part you bought from an aftermarket vendor to add to a factory equipped motorcycle. Show that the vehicle came from the factory that way and the part is an OEM manufacturers part. You do not have any glazing material on your windshield. Because the windscreen is OEM I do not believe this statute applies and your citation should be summarily dismissed.

Show up to court, doesn't sound like the cop will even remember what happened if he even shows.

To easy. Go to court and say you were being stereotyped and want the case dropped. Bring the windshield that says its DOT approved, whole ticket should be thrown out then. If not bring up the fact that he got all your info wrong, also ask for proof of the radar readings.

Just another xb12r with custom exhaust. Guess these thing stand out when its good as well as bad.

The left one got smashed up, peeled both off, pucks and an xopti cable on order. About to park the bike for some mods and tires.

I don't see your rear plate tucked up under the fender. It looks to be in the stock location and also looks to have a rear reflector beneath it.

Fight it and put that cop in his place. Take pictures of your bike and your wind screen in

Now you understand my confusion? I must have seemed like an easy target, bright red, little louder, cooler motorcycle. Only other vehicle on the road was my girl behind me. I always thought that motorcycle cops would hold some comradery like most riders but no they seem to attack us with such hate!!!

Yeah, I don't get it either crash. I am not sure how things work in your state but in mine a hearing officer can sometimes dismiss a ticket, especially one that is not a moving violation. I would bring in a copy of the statute and photos of your bike, ride the bike to the court office. Show them the statute and photos (not sure where the DOT, inspection number is on those shields but get it in the pic if you can), print off some brochure info off the net which shows the cherry bomb plastics available from the manufacturer and invite them to physically inspect your bike on location if need be. Sorry you have to waste all your time over this. Not all cops are bad, but the bad ones can give the perception all are painted with the same brush [sad]

Ive dealt with some cool cops even pulled over cause the cop wanted a better look at my buell, but its cops like today that seriously make me feel scared to ride or drive. Hear it too often but where is the justice? What harm have i done? What danger have i posed? Frustrating is all.

stereotyped by the fact you ride a sport bike, you are young, and you are loud.

A friend got a ticket in Cal for a red bug protector on his hood. The cop said someone could see the red and think a cop was behind them. It was mounted on a Freightliner. He got the ticket droped.
