I'm actually really good friends with Bubba Rush. Still has all his old sets of leathers and some great stories. His Astrodome win is still a great discussion topic.

Do you have nay before pics? I did up my Uly's boxes and pan as well.

still want to to tail in charcoal or black and motor as well.

Nice work!

Flattrack is an even smaller group of enthusiasts than Buell by about 10-fold!!! I'm planning on going to Springfield (Labor Day) and have been toying with riding my XT from Houston. It's the last year for the Sat Short Track before the Mile and it's all Harley vs. Kaw, Duc, KTM etc...

Dave Despain is on record saying that's the single best racing event of any kind on the planet! and he's right.

Who's in?

TwoBuells, are you some kind of quiz master or something? ;) It's like motorcycle sea stories around here... :D Anyone around here still remember "On Any Sunday"? [up]

Anyway, good tip on the Valspar stuff!

cgo I don,t only remember 'On Any Sunday" I was around when it came out and I,am waiting for the new one Bruce Brown,s son is making (the old fart jokes can start now)

I might go to the mile and bring along a old pic of Dave asking me a few questions, He used to wear his hair style a little longer.

Spingfield mile is a good time. Peoria is a good track too. Theres some smaller tracks around also. Good weekend races.

I might go to the mile

Spingfield mile is a good time.

how do XB Bolts do in the mile ??

i would imagine they are running outta breath by @ 135-140 - do they just "stop getting faster" or do they really go past 140ish ??

i'm sure a Bolt can hit 140 with quite a bit of track to spare....

They're not used. The Harley's that dominate flattrack are the XR-750's. Don't ask your dealer about one because they'll look at you with a blank stare. You can get the engines from the Screaming Eagle catalog for about $15k but you have to assemble it and buy a chassis from J&M. Most guys have over $25k in a single XR.

LOVE the XR750.

I had no idea the enginges cost that much though. Makes a guy want to assemble an XBRR motor instead. (about the same price right?)

The last year you could buy the XR750 that was race ready or so clamed was 1982. After that you bought a engine and built your own. Everyone runs 19 in rims I dont remember if thats in the rulebook or it could be most dirt track tires are 19 in.

That is a gorgeous XR750! See, that's why I think the stupid XR1200 is such an insult to the XR herritage. That XR1200 thing is s total wannabe, heavy, POS attempt.

On another note, this should get your hearts racing...
Onboard an XR750:

The xr1000 was pretty sweet, but if you didnt order one with the branch headwork you didnt get the full potential of the engine. Id like to get my hands on one of those.
