Mykee, I would consider the SS and the $1000 cash if it's in good shape.

You have a very potent motorcycle, but in it's genre, it's ancient. And your mods, while maybe great to you, would turn a lot of enthusiasts off--the re-paint, crash cage, weird exhaust, etc. If the bike had the stock paint, and the money instead gone to ohlins, marchesinis, etc, it might be a different story.

I'd go get that Buell...

lol i know.no i never rode a buell.but i had the privelage to sit on a xb12Ss lightning and loved the uprite riding position.im figuring i will have a buell lightning or firebolt xb12 by the end of next week.cant wait.just dont really like the fact that some of them are not passenger rider friendly.need more room on that back seat to put a nice chick on it lol

My girl loves the back of mine.... you said you wanted a lightning for the upright ride, then don't get a bolt, they are not terribly uncomfortable, but not as comfy as a lightning. And on those crazy days you ride with your partners and they do crazy triple digit speeds, say goodbye to them. I know you said you weren't into speed anymore, but come on, everyone does it once in a while.
Also air cooled motors are a thing to get used to, if you ride in traffic, you will not like this bike at all

its in good shape but i would have to invest bout $300 to get it to pass for a restored title.then the insurance companies wont give me full coverage.so i would have to ride too careful and if GOD forbids i do wreck it then i will be assed out and tryna piece it back together hoping that there is some used parts out there for me,which i know is hard too find.i heard its even hard to find new parts from the dealer.especially in the near future with them not servicing or making parts at all.

Yes they are essentially the same bike with different ergos
