What is the best way to turn off the seat heater?

Whew! Once the fan starts to run my seat gets WARM. Is there anything I can do to help with that? I’ve been looking for a right side cooling duct but the only one I can find is carbon fiber.

Adding the RSS or the whole Uly "comfort kit" will help. Adding some underhood heat shield from DynaMat to the bottom of the seat will help too. The cheaper off-shore stuff isn't worth a damn.
IME, it's usually your inner thigh thats getting roasted from the fan vent being right there under the seat. Do NOT block it, but re routing can be OK.

I might try the heat shield stuff as it is the seat itself getting too warm that is causing the most discomfort. I'm currently using the lower seat & wondered if that made a difference.



I have some heat shield / sound deadener I bought for the beetle that I might try since I have it. I've also thought about sticking the stock seat back on it to see if I notice a difference.

The local "ex-Buell" HD dealer ordered the inside and outside scoop parts. Should be here in 7 days. The screws are obsolete so I'll see what I can find at McMaster. It looks like they are a 10-32 X 5/8" BHCS

I searched St Paul HD first as I figured they would have the duct parts on their parts page but nothing showed up on the search. I guess I just assumed if ST Paul didn't list it no one else would either. Poor assumption on my part.

The screws are NOT obsolete but quantities are below system norms so your dealer probably received a NLA notice upon order attempt. Substitute as follows:

Substitute is Button Allen head in standard or stainless----C10-32 X 5/8"---Quantity 3

My right side duct parts finally came in. I'll stick them on this weekend. I'm hoping for some improvement as the reflective tape just delayed the seat heating for a while.

Last week my son & I took a 300 mile loop. I knew I wouldn't be able to stand it with the low seat so I put the stock seat back on it. That definitely helped, but the last hour or so was still not very fun. Still had a great time.

It looks like the Skyline seats are still available from HD and/or VPI. These are a lot more comfortable than the low seat.

I installed the right side scoop this weekend. After reading about the XB12X comfort kit I decided to try to block the air from coming up under the seat. I'm not sure how this will hold up as everything was locally sourced (what I could find laying around in the barn).



I found some type of rubber sheet. I can't remember what it was from.



I figured it wouldn't hurt to put some tape to reflect a little heat on the fan side.





Now I just need a day without rain so I can give it a try.

It looks like the taller seat I have is a M0090.1AJ. How do these compare to that one?

Are you sure the heat is coming through the thick padding of the seat? Typically its the opening just below the seat and mostly the right side, because that is the fan outlet. Don't block it!
What are you wearing?:upset: Seriously, if you are in regular jeans they are dangerous. Use riding jeans and boxer or boxer brief underwear. Not only are they going to actually save you if you fall over at speed, they are dramatically more insulating from heat on your right inner thigh.

It's a pretty common complaint, but shouldn't be unbearable? Have you checked that the bike might be running much hotter than it should? Sure you can use ECMDroid for accurate readings, but a turkey thermometer in the dip stick hole after a ride can show you a problem too. Buy one for $90-$100 or build one for $1.99. Alternatively add a digital temp display with a probe:

Yep, the front part of seat itself is getting noticeably warm. It's much worse with the low seat. I would compare it to having a seat heater on in a car. It just adds to accumulated discomfort as the ride goes on. The stock seat got warm after a couple hours but it takes longer for the heat to work its way through to the point that I notice it.

I wear jeans when I ride. I can feel the heat coming out the side vents but it doesn't bother me. Riding pants of some kind is next on the list of riding gear I need to purchase.

My peak CLT was 217 on my last log. It took about 15 minutes for it to reach 200

Totally know what you're saying here as my seat heats up and after a while, once the heat has soaked into the seat it's really not a fun place to be.
I have been getting the https://airflowseatcovers.com/ adverts on my facebook feed so I thought id try them but they said they don't have a cover for a 2008 xb12ss long...... I even offered to send them photos and measurements of the seat.....
So I took to Ebay and Amazon and found this https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07MZLG7L7/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 for $10 and thought its worth a punt...... so far its been the best $10 I have spent on the bike.... other than gas obviously ;-)

The airflow under your crown jewels feels a little strange at first (especially on a cold morning) but really works well when the bike is hot and means I can ride in much more comfort and for longer too.

BTW I have both air scoops on my bike with an amount of heat matting under the seat too

Be aware that this cover is a net/mesh like material. Not that its bad, but the pics make it look like a solid material. If you look at the pics on the ad with the numbers, you can see how it really is.

Here are some pics of the seat cover on my 2008 XB12ss long. The seat cover is a mesh that allows air to pass through and allows the cooling effect to happen by not allowing you in direct contact with the seat.
