Dang, you're way south! You're right on the border. Have a state trooper that lives close to me and those guys are all having to take shifts down on the border as they beef up patrols for the cartel **** that goes on. Dangerous down there. Some of the stories he tells me are truly straight out of the movies!

Ever have any issues with that down there?

i think im the only person who has actually moved to amarillo everyone else just broke down here and couldnt leave.

^^^^Dido.

East Dallas here. I commute to work In Waxahachie and sometimes up in McKinney.
What part ? I grew up in the Casa View area and graduated from Bryan Adams High.

Yep that's not exactly a tourist destination! Unless you like flat fields and dirt that gets in your teeth every time the wind blows!

And depending on the wind it smells like cattle (Hereford) or petrolium (Borger) ! Other than those things it's not bad ! :D

Funny you say that. I grew up in the 'big city' so they call it, and despite what most think about Texas, it's not all cowboys and ranches. Well I dated a girl who was from east Texas out in the country and who's father was a cattleman, had a ranch, a sale barn, the whole nine. When I went to visit for the first time, I guess I had a slight look on my face from the smell. I dont care who you are, ehen you smell it for the first time, it effing stinks.........because it's ****! Pure and simple!

He looks at me, kind of smirks and without even verbally confirming why I had the look on my face, he said, "that's the smell of money!"

Now I do live out in the country, relative to Dallas and there are nothing but cattle in the fields behind my house! Can't even smell it anymore!

Back in the early 80s I had some penpals in England and they were brainwashed by what they saw onn the TV show Dallas. Being from Dallas they always asked about and for pictures of our ranch,Cadillac and cowboy stuff in general. They were confused and dissapointed when they found out we had a Z28 and a Chevy truck and didn't have a clue about the oil business and there wasn't a cowboy hat in our house!

^so true! You obviously know this, but Texas is FULL of ranches, cattle, cowboys, and horses, oil, and all that stuff. The show Dallas had a big part in that, but even now when there's like a Dallas Cowboy game on national tv like Monday night football, all the cut always and intros show longhorns and cattle and ****. So people automatically asume we all ride horses to work! Pretty funny!

Hell most people who own cattle in Texas own them for ag exempts, not because it's their business as ranchers. I'd definitely like to own some cattle eventually..........down the road! [smirk]

EXACTLY !! drives me nucking futts ! Really hate it when a show is done in Texas and they say "things really are bigger in Texas " or references to Texas and big ! WE GET IT ALREADY, JESUS H CHRIST ! That is all.

Got out and rode 150 miles this afternoon! Beautiful day. 70 degrees, sunny, and no wind. Couldn't ask for better!

We bessss get ready for the bugs this year. Without a winter this year, they're going to be bad. I was absolutely covered after riding today. My helmet was so bad a was having issues seeing clearly by the time I got home.

@netty2424

Yes, I am right on the border, would like to go into MX for some cool touring but the last few years have been just too dangerous for me. This side of the border not too bad. about 1 hr from South Padre Island (where all the spring breakers go).

The only way it'll stop is if our military truly gets involved, and I'm not talking about sending in small groups for training purposes only. But I don't believe that will happen on a scale large enough to make a difference.

Be safe my friend! [up]

I actually work at the Hidalgo port of entry with CBP/ FPS as a PSO and always hear the shoot-outs and explosions happening all the time. I haven't been over to MX since 1997 and no way am I going now... Oh yeah, a few of the agents see the 'buell' I take to work and now they want one... I end up referring them to craigslist, ebay motors, etc... Hopefully get some more buells down here in South TX. woohoo!!!

Oh, sorry. Customs-Border Protection/ Federal Protective Service as a Protective Security Officer and yes we carry guns :D[cool]:D
