Any of you Texas boys riding a toaster lately?!! I gotta change the VR and put some of that thermal barrier soon. I have ridden as high as 195 in traffic which isnt so bad if the seat wouldnt be burning. You would think vapor lock would kick in at some time. Anyway, just wanted to see what you guys were doing to cool things down here.

I rode for a couple hours yesterday with temps just shy of 100 and it wasn't too bad. I recently installed a right side scoop and it makes a huge difference in my opinion. I rarely ever ride with shorts on, but was just out cruising country roads, so I wore shorts and was fine.

Now if I'm riding hard(by my standards), I'm fully geared and that can get a little warm, but not too bad.

Another thing to consider, if you're in Dallas in stop and go traffic, thats not for me. Too hot because the heat just permeates up your legs. But out on country roads the heat is fine as the scoop helps redirect the heat.

True, true..

I have an 1125CR, so its amazing the heat that comes up now. Its been recent that I replaced the coolant with redline water wetter. I burped the cooling system just to make sure there were no air pockets and that the fans kicked in. She did better this afternoon around 1130 or so. I'll see into next week with 100 degrees here in San Antonio. Also bought header wrap and insulation for the frame.

I have the r-cr and installed the rubber pads on frame and helps keep legs off frame and helps keep heat off legs. AmericanSportBike.com has them. They work great. here's a pic with them installed.

Hey Dogwood...I have seen that guy twice..I live off Swisher & 35 area and I saw him two monday nights ago but I was driving my car I slowed and gave him the thumbs up. I am not profiling but he looked hispanic.

Oh and I might as well ask...anyone have a cooling fan in DFW I can buy? My went out and I wanted to ride this weekend and the 4th...ordering one will not get to me til after that...or would it overheat if I rode it?

he works at american eagle hd, ive seen him and that bike up there

So we have at least three Hispanic guys riding white and blue firebolts in the DFW area? Crazy. I saw a black on black firebolt this morning just south of Decatur on 51 this morning. Looked like goduc's bike.

Nope negative. I have the only triple black firebolt in existance. And that's probably the guy that has the blacked out stt. Can't remember his name but I pass him in Corinth sometimes and he said he lives out there.

Considering the STT and the Firebolt look exactly the same... I'm pretty sure I know the difference between a firebolt and a lightning. Anyway, it was at 114 and 51. It's the second time I've seen it. I saw it in Weatherford one day and I followed the guy for like 10 miles toward Bridgeport trying to get him to pull over. Didn't work...

That's how I first met GoDuc, i was following (stalking) him since he was on a Buell and after following him for awhile noticed his brakelights weren't working. Rolled up next to him to tell him and the S.O.B blew me off only to meet him a couple weeks later.
