well since i wont be able to buy a buell until spring i was thinking maybe i would ask and see...What make you decide to get a buell? and How did you find out about buell motorcycles?

Well for me i always wanted an enduro bike back when i first got my permit earlier this year and i didnt want anything to do with a crotch rocket or race bike. Then when a friend of mine and i went to a local dealer to go look at some bikes i saw the bike i wanted at the time a kawasaki klr 650 and it was huge and a little intimidating at first and i was a little afraid to try and sit on it lol then i saw my friend sitting on a cbr 954 and he told me to get on and that i think is when my opinion on sport bikes changed having never been on a sport bike i always thought they were very uncomfertable but i liked the feel of this bike. Now i didnt really know much about the bikes and the only manufactures i knew of were honda kawasaki suzuki and yamaha and i didnt really like the sound of the inline four too much but one day at work a buddy told me about how his dad used to race a bike in the 90's called a buell and i was like what the f$#k is a buell so i went on youtube and searched buell and found the first bike that i fell in love with. A Buell Firebolt XB12R 1203cc v-twin with a straight pipe on it and i heard that bike start up and rearly shit myself not expecting a sport bike to sound like that. So later that night i went home and searched and got some info about the firebolts and learned about all the technology in them like the fuell in frame and ztl breaks and i really liked how it has a short wheelbase and a little better riding position. Plain in simple i was in love with it and ever since then i have been saving my money to soon be a buell rider :D and thats pretty much my "buell story" so lets hear yours.

wanted american, liked the looks and didnt want to put daily riding miles on my 600 or busa.fell in love with it and sold my other two bikes.

I took the riders edge class at the HD dealer. They use Buell Blasts there. I was un-impressed. I'd been looking at Ducati's, SV650's and whatnot without thinking about Buells because of my experience with Blasts. I happened to stop by a HD Dealer just to ride a bike or two and they put me on a XB9R. I fell in love. I only had eyes for Buell from then on.

why not? first and foremost, its american designed and built! Second of all they are different. I love my buell to death and dont ever plan on parting with it. I have zero need or want to go 150+ mph and kill myself or someone else, i love the low end torque and the powerband it provides on the street where i ride.

The long and short of it is I don't want to be a part of the sheeple. My Buell fits that bill quite nicely.

I always thought the Lightning looked badass. Once I rode one it made the most sense for the kind of riding I do. More torque than most and plenty of power. I also like the fact that it's not intimidating to work on.

I like it when poeple stare at me and the bike.

Its like they are thinking.....its a sport bike but it sounds like a HD cruiser?!?!?

As a guy at the gas station put it last week......." Its like a hot big titted blonld with a deep voice......It just aint right"

My first bike was a 1985 Honda Interceptor 750. In good condition, it got a decent amount of looks (probably an equal number of "shit that's old" looks from kids my age, and "hey, I always wanted one of those" from 40+ yr olds). It wasn't my thing though. It sounded like a bitch, and drove like a slightly butchy bitch... I wanted a bike that sounded cool and had POWER.

I went through the R1, Hayabusa, CBR phase (never got any of them), and I really didn't know what I wanted. At that point, I liked all these sport bikes, but realized EVERYONE had one, or something that looked just like it, and sounded just like it. That's not my style. I'm me, and always will be. I wanted something out of the ordinary. I loved the sound of choppers and harleys, but couldn't picture ever riding one. I loved the look and ride of a sport bike, but didn't want to join the crowd.

Then, at Laconia 2009, I saw a Buell. I had heard of them, but only seen the tube frames, and wasn't interested... Until I saw the XB. Extremely unique, freakin cool style. Amazing sound, torque of a chopper, and not many to be found. I had found my dream bike.

I spent 9 months looking around for a good deal until I finally bought one (I'm a cheap bastard ;)). Since then it's been nothing but awesome. I no longer look at bike with envy, but rather pity. No bike will ever temp me like a Buell XB, and that's that.

American made, streetbike, torque vs highspeed, sick-wid-it styling, great engineering for handling, sound, not another r6 ect, Buell went under so only a few virgins left to break in...

Paid for mine two weeks after hearing about Buell(Buell's website doesnt' make it apparent), couldn't wait til spring '11 tax returns like I had orginally planned. GET ONE

Started riding sportbikes in the mid 90's. First bike was a katana, had useable power.Went to a newer gxsr felt like if I wasnt turning 10000 rpm I wasnt moving.Got a harley and fell in love with american muscle but missed sportbike style and feel. Looked at the buells for a long time my harley broke down 849 miles from home and there was my excuse. In my eyes there is not another bike on the road.

I'm one of the ones who took advantage of Buell's misfortune. I wouldn't have bought my CR unless it was priced where it was. How many 130 horsepower motorcycles can you buy with great suspension and that great motor for under $7k? I wasn't even in the market for a motorcycle as I already had my Suzuki V-Strom 650. So, I'm a band wagoner.

After having owned it for 11 months, I can say it's worth every bit of its full MSRP. I really like it a lot.

So, bottom line is that I bought my CR strictly because of the heavily reduced price.

Edit: Oops, I just realized this was in the XB12/9 forum.

Been riding a Yamaha FZR600 for a few years. The bike really got me hooked on sportbikes. It came the time that I wanted to upgrade. Id been looking at the new R6's, CBR600's, ZX6R's. Then someone put me onto the Triumph 675. Was almost ready to pull the trigger on the white and blue 08 675 after a few test rides. But just looking at a Triumph instead of the big 4 got me looking elsewhere also.

Was up visiting my girl in Vancouver Canada, walking downtown, and this sound turns my head, and I spy a white and blue firebolt. My jaw drops, guys envy ensues, etc, etc... 3 weeks of research later im riding one. 3 Years later im still riding the same one.

Tho truth be told, Im selling it. Its been a long love affair but that temptress named Supermoto has turned me over to the dark side.

I used to walk past a parked XB12R every day, and almost got a crick in my neck as I turned back to admire it's amazingly unique style. I just loved it. Time came for me to get back onto a bike, and I went out to a dealership here in Vancouver, BC and threw a leg over a 09 black 12R in the showroom, and instantly knew it's what I wanted. Being on a tight budget, I couldn't afford brand new, so I went home and hit Craigslist. Voila - an immaculate Black & Cherry Bomb Red 07, in my neighborhood, for half the price of a new one! It's been mine for 16 months now, and I absolutely love it. I've put 17,000 kms on it in two seasons. I take great care of my bike, I'm pretty gentle on it, and so far (knock on wood) it runs like a charm.

I use to ride a Triumph Daytona 650 for about four years. After I got rid of the bike because of working ours being down, thanks to the recession. I kept looking for a bike that would fit what I represent, a nonconformist. I remember seeing pictures of buells but I had never seen one until I went to Atlanta for a weekend. And the first thing that came to my mind is now thats a muscle bike. Deep raw sound of the exhaust and the unique styling. As I researched Buells and what Buell was about, I knew I had to have one. The bike was everything I wanted. More about engineering, fun, and not conforming. I didnt want something that was pretty, sleak, and screamed like a little girl in trouble. So when my hours picked up in the automotive manufacturing business, the first thing I did was buy my 07XB12SCG. And the looks I get and the raw power out of the corners makes it well worth it.

2008 xb12r here bought in nov 07 and I am 350lbs and the bike and me have all the fun the tires will hold and just a little more and as far as the top speed on this bike in totally stock condition with 8,000 miles i was clocked @159 mph and I believe there was just a little more but being a bigger then average man i couldn't get totally out of the wind. bottom line the Buell XB12R is worth it.

I rode japanese sport bikes untill i got my XB12R. I had a 600. 750, 1000 v twin and 1000 unline 4.I was always interested in Buells and loved the way they looked, but the stories of relialabity issues and lack of horsepower kept me from taking a closer look. Finally i ended up getting an 09 XB12R as my second bike on top of my CBR1000. Loved the bike from the first time i rode it. Ended up selling the CBR. XB was nowhere near as powerfull as the CBR, but it didn't matter. It was the look, the sound and the feel of the Buell, bike had character. Now i got 2 Buells, just picked up a tuber, 00 M2. If you are looking for high horsepower screamer, then Buell is not for you, but why would you want to be like 75% of other people. If you want something built in America that is unique, has character, handles great, sounds great and puts a smile on your face every time you ride it, then the Buell is the bike to get.

Love to be different its american. Torque rules and the confused look on peoples faces when they look at aint bad neither. :D

i was a harley supporter in high school (i rode mt dads new sporster to school) bucause of my love of american muscle cars. one day my little brother brought home a old ninja,i tryed it and loved the feel and was hooked,i bought a zx6,then a zx6e,then a zx7rr nothing felt right. people said it was strange with my cars that i ride a jap bike,i said i love to go fast and take corners and stopping is great too. i rember in the 90s when i had my 1st ninja reading about buell making a harley powered american sportsbike,i loved the idea and folled it for years but there was nothing i would want, until i went to bikeweek in n.h. and daytona and at bolth places they were the only ones who let me test the larger sportbike. i fell in love! the looks, the handeling, the speed, the sound, the fact that it was built in usa! everything! i sold my zx7rr and bought a used beat up xb12r took it apart made it the way i would have designed it and i will now keep it for life! i do like that the 1125 is faster but it does not have the look and feel or sound of my buell. i rember telling my brother and dad when we test rode them that it was the only bike that just felt perfect to me and i will get a xb12r no matter what. wish they would have kept making them...

To me it's funny how most everyone (including me) on a buell loves the old v-twin feel, torque, and sound, yet e. buell wanted to make the bikes have higher revving, water-cooled engines (still v-twins) since the early 90's so they could be competitive against the Japanese bikes, and I think that the 1125 definitely proves that they could have if they were given the time. But, the reason I decided buell is because my brother and dad both rode harleys, so I was always in the HD dealers, and the only sport-bikes they had were buells. When it came time for me to get my bike the sound and looks, definitely the looks, lured me into buell. Don't get me wrong, I love EVERYTHING my xb9r has to offer, but I definitely still have eyes for the italia; benelli, aprilia, ducati. I just wish that all the sport bike manufacturers weren't SO obsessed with POWWWERR...it seems like 140 hp is becoming the minimum acceptable power.

I bought my 07 XB9SX as my first bike (only about 3-4 weeks ago now) but I got it for the looks an the sound as everyone else has said. I originally wanted an R6, but being a larger guy, I couldn't handle the position of the typical sport bikes, so for me the search was on, until I came across the buell. I love the looks, I personally don't think there is a better looking bike out there. Now that I have been riding one, I won't be riding anything else anytime soon.
