XB12 rebuild, wrong flywheels?

Evolution Performance is working on my crank for a XB12. They told my mechanic the flywheels are wrong for the engine it was in... They said the wheels are from a XL1200. My mechanic asked me if I was the original owner of the bike. This bike had 3 owners and a repo at one point.The mechanic said if it was anyone else telling him he would have doubts but Revolution only works on cranks... Does this sound crazy or what?

When I was disassembling this engine the piston top dead center was a 1/4" from the top of the barrels. Is TDC suppose to be nearly flush with the top of the cyl?

1200 sportster has same stroke. Could be a xb9 crank?

I can get a new crank for $536 from surdyke if I want which will be cheaper than the rout I'm being offered. Does a new crank come with installed & machined races ready for install?
