Did a search and couldn't find something similar. My cousin has a POS 2000 gixr 600 and is knocking my new buell hard. Just wanted to know if any of you have raced one and what was the out come. I know I would out handle his bike. I hated the way it rode compared to my bike. [mad] Just didn't want to run my mouth and get spanked.:D

you'll get him off the line but he'll catch you fast and he'll out run you top end get him in the twisties then let him talk chit

You'll be at 80mph before he passes you. And as soon as you hit the second turn you'll be ahead again. He'll be getting tired of shifting and you'll be a mile ahead leaving it in 4th gear.

in a straight line you will lose, i ride with a bunch of jap bikes and they are quicker than my bike but don't have anything on my buell once the rode gets twistie.

Thanks Le. I saw that but it was a 900 vs a 750. Mine is a 1200 vs a 600. Is there a big differance between a 1200 buell and a 900?

Anyone can go super fast in a straight line. It doesn't take any skills to do it, but it can take your license if you do it. The twisties are what seperates the men from the boys. Get him on the twisties, look at him and say "it's time to go to school boy".

I think its safe to say that XBs are about legal and mature fun. If you try to race the high-revers, you will likely lose or find yourself hurt. Those who want incredible speed should by a CBR or GSXR and take it to the track. Those who want to have fun and make it home for dinner will have a blast short shifting on the Buells. This argument isn't only valid for Buells but applies to most cafe' racers.

Honestly I knew other bikes would be faster but when i think about the beauty of a buell. and the innovation of a bike series that can go for almost a decade without change and still be unique and unknown to the general public. . . speed is fun but so is low insurance and coming home to the family. I haven't been able to see the looks on peoples faces when I ride by as I am still super green and scared every second of my rides but I have followed my buddy while he rode it home from the dealer and then when we went to the parking lot he taught me how to ride on and every time we passed people the bike seemed to instantly cause ear to ear grins. even when other bikes were around and passing by the buell was the one noticed by all. hopefull soon i'll be able to notice peoples smiles as i pass by.

Most of the stats i remember looking up when I bought mine, the 1200's had about the same hp numbers as most 600cc jap bikes but a lot more (sometimes twice) the torque of them. I would expect the 1200's to beat them in a race or at least be even. I could be remembering the numbers wrong though. 100hp for a 600 sounds right though.

When you pull into the 7-Eleven no one looks at the same old stuff. You are the coolist thing there and you will hear it from everyone. They are all jealous...:D

600s you can have some fun playing against. 750s and 1000s are a different story though. They will kill you in the straights, but you can get 'em back in the corners!

I just wish I knew why standards (nakeds) (streetfighters) haven't caught on in the states and here on Guam. Having ridden both standards and rice burners for so many years...you just can't beat the Buells for the street.

I went to MD state Bikefest a month or so ago and coming home for about 12 miles is route 5 Branch Ave. Straight shot light to light about a quarter mile between lights. It was shameful how far behind some people were leaving me on my 12. Busas and Gixxers were gone. But everytime I pulled up to a light everyone looked like "Dang I love the sound of your bike what is that!?" Much respect to all MD sport bike riders.

You will never out run a litre sportbike. No matter what you do. I did alot mods to my Buell before i sold it. For years now, i have been doin sportbikes. Lately i had the ninja zx10r (08). When it was stolen, i bought a R1 (08). When this machine is tuned, it run like nothing from the factory line. The 1125R which i have demo-tested 3 times is so gone compaired to this machine. If you wish to use wide rpm even in corners, try a 07-08 R1, with full system and PC3. You will be blown away of the total handling and control. It's like a 600 doped hard on viagra. best you can do if you want to feel handling, try a Triumph daytona 675 (09 version). This is way quicker on everything than every Buell. Though it lacks teh adrenalin of a litre bike. Easy to run fast at though and you will beat your cousins jap bike (if that is waht matters)?
STILL, i miss my old Buell and am thinking of changing bike again. This time i would opt for a xb12r. I run to freaking fast at this R1. It become so asurd. I feel i that nowadays, i can't keep pace with rules and regulations of roadrunning. This bike has it if you like to feel the rush of speed and control in spades. That's just the way it is amigo. I've been doing my Buell, mostly for handling and getting it to run faster. It was not in same league. It's a fun bike though. But don't ever compair them. Asking any guy who knows sportbikes and not just leave the jaw bladdering b.s.
I still pay on loans for upgrades of the Buell.
If you don't beleive me, ask Martin at Twin Motorcycles or Jens Krüper (former) Hill Billy.
They even todl me staright up, you can't out run these bikes. Martin todl me he tried an older R1. Hes own words, i could not own a bike like this, i would just end up dead. Jens asked me what i was aiming at, so i told him. His reply was, honestly, save your money, go gixxer or R1. I DON'T say you should, or anyone, but are you talking handling and speed, that is the best way to get to the point. To really use a bike like this, you need time to adapt. The way the machine/ engine work is very different from the Buell. The R1 has a redline at 14000rpm. From 10 and on it run totaly linear. Gixxer, ZX, Firblade will not. The develop more HP/ torque. At these you will have to be more careful modulating the throttel. At the R1 (07-08), just set suspension, and you can just use the powerband in corners or s-corners. It's sick to use 2 gear, and run in 10000rpm and just pull harder - speed become and addiction. I am 181cm in socks, 5 foot 11. Great cockpit for me.

Nice video. What mods?

I ran my cousin the other day on an on ramp. Kept the same distance apart from a roll. Very similar but his is a 2000. I would say 2010 is alot faster.

That's what i told screamingeagle, a 600, is maybe nice and nibble, but a 1000 is someting else.
I had my Buell some years, i would not say what i told without being fully sure. No matter, i still would like a XB12R. It's completely ok, cheaper insurance, ok speed, bad acceleration (i can live with that now).
But when it comes to, even small winding roads, the R1 (08) beats a buell. That is why i like it. The ZX10R is more difficult to to handle than an R1. Partly what is great with, R1 is the extremely balanced chassi and the smoothness and easy going use of the whole powerband. Some contenders of the jap litre bikes, might seem wilder and more brute, but, they won't be as easy to handle in an all in all perspective. The 09 R1 is more difficult at S-corners, more heavy than a 08, not as well balanced. It has great down low torque, but dropps that directly over 4500rpm (compaired to an 07-08). It might sound boring to use an R1 08. But, looking at it this way. They've upgraded the same platform from 03-04 uptil 08. That is why it is such a great machine as it is.
09, is a completely new machince (new platform).
If you use a full system at an 08, it is over 10kgs lighter than a R1 09. With the 09ers, you have full titanium system from factory, mag rearswing aso aso. Imagine how hard it will be to do weight savings at this unit.

Also, imagine a Buell XB12R, 20kg's lighter.. or with an S&S 1640 (102cc) engine in it - wow!
We're talking an 120+ hp at the rear wheel and around 155-165Nm. That would be a killer machine!!!
Why did they not go this route, like the new S&S 102cc wedge engine.

Everyone Keeps talkin about the bikes and the twisties... What about the rider? yea our bikes kill almost everything off the line, if you can ride (and have balls) you should be able to take out any bike, any where!!!!!
