Hi All,

As the title says, I'm torn btwn these 3 models. I am a more "mature" rider, never go off road, will use the bike to commute ~75 miles a day (all interstate)weather permitting, Only one ticket this year...mature does not = slow! here are my questions:

I've read that the "Long" model is very slow steering, is this true?

I've heard that the ULY has very mushy fork springs, is this true and which aftermarket springs do you reccomend?

I've heard the ULY has limited cornering clearence is this true?

It looks like you could bolt the ULY's wind screen right on the lightening (Ss or TT) will it?

I've read the TT wheelie's very easyly, (not sure if this is a bad thing) true ?

Thanks for your help!

I would say any buell is going to wheelie fairly easy. I ride an 06 uly and I love it. I too commute (just over 80 miles a day) and I love the rid ethe uly provides. I like the upright seating position. The only thing about the uly is the height. If your tall you don't need to worry about it. The uly does seem a little soft in the front but I don't think it is anything to worry about. I haven't found the corner clearance of the uly yet. I ride it pretty hard and have never drug anything. I have no idea on the comfort level of the long or TT as I have never ridden either one.

I have a Long and its a great bike. I use it to commute also, 60 miles a day. The long steering it not a issue. Compared to the shorter Buells yes it may be long steering but compared to other sprotbikes on the market "no way". The thing loves to turn, Suspension adjustments are important but once you have it dialed in it will cut on a dime and leave change. I don't know if the wind screen form a uly will fit, im trying to find out that myself.

Thanks for the advice!

I called the local dealer and asked if you could bolt the ULY's wind screen right on a lightening (Ss or TT) and they said no..it sure looks like you could. I'm asking because Lightings are cheaper than Uly's on the used market by quite a bit.

I was thinking about converting my Ss to a touring bike as some friends are getting into longer rides. Not much difference in the basic Uly and the Ss (same Frame), with the touring bags that they already have on the market, some taller bars and a wind screen your in there. Should not take much to mount the Uly wind screen to the stock Lighting screen. There is also a taller Lighting screen on the market already. Add a few 12v outlets for accessories stiffen the rear shock preload for the added weight some Pirelli Strada's or Michelin Pilot Roads. [up]
