Good morning!

My xb as decide to be funny this morning.

After a quick coffee stop, the bike wouldnt start. It started this morning like my battery was dying, and didnt restart after. Try to jump start, but nothing change. The selenoid clicks, but the engine dosent crank. I pushed the dam thing and started it on compression. after 5 minutes, my dashboard went almost completely dead (no speedo, no rpm, no little hour/odo). The bike kept running, but once i stoped it after 15 minutes, it went back to the not starting point.

My check engine light as been going on and off for the past two weeks, and i lost the high beam this weekend.

A few weeks ago, my battery poles were loosen, and it happend again a week ago! So this morning, i checked that first, and it wasent the issue!

Any ideas or suggestion?

batty: assuming all cable connections are sound and your battery connections are as well....sure sounds like battery on its last legs. i would charge it, look for 12.1-12.3 volts at full charge rest with key off and 14.0 to 14.7 volts at 2500rpm. just check across the terminals with voltmeter set to DC volts and see what you have. local auto parts joints will also load test your fully charged battery for free.

check the bolts holding the voltage regulator to the frame, mine backed out and lost the ground to the frame and bike wouldnt start. locktite everything!

After testing, it looks like my battery is defect, and the rectifier is not "fully" responding. Knowing now if the battery is the cause or the consequence is the next question. Im dropping a new battery tonight, and i'll check if there's still charging issues.

The rectifier dosent seem to be loose from the frame, but now that you mention it.... ill double check!

Ive been looking around for rectifiers, anyone know wich one i can put in replacement of the OEM?

Final Diag.
Changed the voltage rectifier, after another stall in the middle of nowhere.

So far : Prob : Solved
