Ok, so admittedly I didn't search as much as I could have but I was VERY happy how it turned out!
My '05 XB-12S fuel pump was working fine, but would get loud on occasion. I didn't want to be left stranded one day, but $364 for the assembly from ASB was a little hard to swallow for "preventative repair".
I found this:http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Intank-Fuel-Pump-for-2003-2006-Buell-XB9SX-XB9-XB9S-Lightning-/271228480626?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3f267a2c72&vxp=mtr
I'm sure it the same "Mustang pump" but even le$$!
and this:
$4.45 in stock at Napa.
I was able to remove the pump assembly by simply:
Putting the front on a stand
using the rear jack point
Removing the lower shock bolt to let the swingarm down
drain the tank
unbolt the pump assy
used a 10-24 screw with a fender washer in the puller hole, and pried carefully with a large flathead screwdriver
I put "painters tape" on the swing arm to not scratch it
the pump assy came out about 3/4 of the way
a 90* clockwise twist and it popped right out![Smile :) :)](data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7)
so, for $43.43 and about 2 beers time I now have a perfectly running bike and a silent fuel pump!
Me happy round eye!
