I'm John and I'm in sales at Biker Bob's HD and Buell in Taylor, MI. I have a question for all BUELL owners. What are Buell owners looking for in a dealer? This can be service, e-mail or specials, what ever. We as a company want to better service our customers. We understand that Buell owners are unique. That is why we are asking for your in put. You can either post or direct e-mail me at [email protected] we want to hear from you.
John sales :)

More knowledge about the bikes, like fixing them and aftermarket things for them. People more willing to work with us. I have walked in in a Harley jacket and said I need a part for my bike and they were really happy to talk to me and then I said Buell and it looked like someone shot their dog. That is piss poor customer service, unless someone shot your dog, you better have a smile on be it a Harley or a Buell that I want help with. Now they know me when I walk in and avoid me, Wayne Brady's gonna have to choke a bitch.

Dealers just need to know who and why people buy Buells. I like my dealer because the guys that sell the Buells own and ride them and a few mec's own them also, so its like buying from fellow riders rather than a dealer. When you walk in the door its like your walking into a Buell club house where everyone is just hanging out and BSing about bikes and mods. The dealer has Harley guys selling Harley's and the Buellers selling Buells. But its not just that it seems the Dealer as a whole it just happy to have you as a customer, and they know that one day that Buell rider is going to get older and eventually buy a Ultra Classic or Street Glide and they want to be the dealer that sells it to you, and as long as they don't change I will buy that 20k bagger from them one day.
Its Seminole Harley/Buell in Sanford Florida.

Well really we want in our Buell dealers what we want from any dealer/customer service rep. Treat us with respect, help us out, be nice, be INFORMED about what you are selling or may have to sell. I'll put it like this. If the army was trained as bad as some of the dealers we've encountered, we wouldn't know how to put our damn boots on or button our pants up. I would like a service representative/customer service representative/dealer that not only knows what they are doing/selling. I want them to have gone above and beyond what the average guy would have done. Do some research, hit some forums and get informed.

Austin, Texas
• Central Texas Harley Davidson.
• Cowboy Harley Davidson.

I want to walk into to any Harley Shop and have the salesman know at least as much as I do about Buells. I'd really like them to know MORE than me, but that's asking a lot. I've actually taken friends to look @ a bike and had salesmen come over to ask if they can listen in. Whilst glad to impart the things I know, the training should be coming from the company.

Harley Shops who have Buells should be encouraging their staff to get to know the bikes. They should have @ least one bike that the staff can take out on errands. It needs to come from the top brass in the company all the way down to the working stiffs. Anything less is unacceptable.

I have had the same experiences as the others here. You walk in and want to order parts and they "deal" (cope) with you. There's an innate culture there that needs to be overcome.

If I may offer some applause and recognition here; Central Texas HD recently opened a new "Salon" way up north of Austin (Round Rock, TX) but left their other location open for the duration of their lease. They specifically decided that this location should cater to Buell owners and sell Buells and used Harleys. This decision has been heaven for us. And apparently the location's been doing enough business to warrant a rumored remodel and lease renewal.

Ever seen 19 Buells on a sales floor? How 'bout a salesman who actually approaches you when you're checking a bike out, and sincerely ask if they can help you? A complete line of Buell accessories. And when you need a part... Well, the last 6 parts I needed were in stock.

Central Texas is where I bought my '03XB9S. Back then, they offered a 20% discount on parts when you signed up for BRAG. BRAG then went defunct, but that discount remained until just a couple weeks ago when they changed it up and went with a points system for loyal Customers thru a credit card type system. Whenever I needed/need parts, CTHD got/gets that business, even though I have to drive 10 miles farther to get there than I would if I just went to Cowboys. That should speak loads.

I've been raped @ enough HD shops to appreciate good Customer Service and competitive pricing.

It should also be noted that the employees who stayed at the old location, WANTED to be there (for the most part). They've bought in to the new game plan. Many of them I call friends. Several are Buell owners and riders.

I'm telling you. THAT MAKES ALL THE DIFFERENCE IN THE WORLD!

Wow! I am blown away by this thread. I will certainly be giving some rep points.

I am from Saginaw, MI, and I concur with the rest of the folks on here. I really need by Race ECM remapped...but I know the guys up here at Great Lakes HD don't have a clue. When I got my headlight recall, they put the low beam on the high beam side...and never checked it. I had a major problem the firs night ride after because there was a 30 foot shadow in front of me when the low beam only was on.

Wokor2wheel...if you have someone there that is highly Buell intelligent...please let us know. There are a lot of Michigan buellers on here...and I would happily drive to Taylor to spend my money! Thanks

Most points were covered that I was thinking about. I want to emphasize customer service and approachability. This seems to be a problem with a lot of car and motorcycle shops. I hate cocky attitudes, lack of approachability and techs that don't treat your motorcycle half as good as they would treat their own.

Like bitter rod said for example. You take your bike in to get fixed and it comes back with a scratch, something mounted improperly, oil and dirt on parts you work hard to keep clean, etc. Some of this is lack of knowledge about your bike, but some guys just want to get the job done and could care less about your bike.

Thanks for the thread and the open mind! :D[up]

I can agree that this is a much needed change seeing how we all feel when were given the eye roll, but this seems to be a request from Biker Bob's HD only, how will this help out any of the dealers say here in Cali? Their are some good Buell dealerships, but way more bad ones.I'd like to see the dealership split in half,a Buell side and a HD side. For the mostpart they act like that already, why not go the rest of the way and create two counters?

Riders Harley in Trussville Alabama is a joke they don't carry Buell anymore but when I dropped my 9R and called to get a peg and brake lever they told me that they WOULD NOT order it they could but they would not that is bullshit I had to order from a dealer over 100 miles away and pay shipping instead of driving 5 miles down the road to get the parts so it took longer and cost more.

There are two excellent dealerships in the NewEngland area - Paramount Harley/ Buell(Mass.) and Precision Harley-Davidson (R.I.) Friendly, knowledgeable, and genuine. Try contacting their service department and sales team, I'm sure they would gladly share what makes them successful.

Aftermarket, Aftermarket, Aftermarket.

So few choices everywhere it would be nice to have somewhere to look and have access to all my choices instead of a little here and a little there.

Simple things like stickers and patches which you guys have are great too.

Most importantly
Knowledge!!!!

Being from Michigan, its definitely good to see that someone like Biker Bob's HD has their employees looking at forums like these and asking us, as Buell owners and potential customers, what we would like to see and experience when getting our bikes serviced, or buying anything for them. BMW, also is very involved with many forums for both cars and motorcycles and using forums (a huge free resource) and uses it to their advantage which helps both them and their customers. Biker Bobs is not the closest dealership to me, (Ann Arbor is) but I will for sure go to Biker Bobs now.

I agree, it is very impressive even if it was by chance.

Again out of all HD dealers I have been to BB is the best and I live 3 1/2 hours away.

Stillwater,ok - Formans HD

yea i dont like how un knowledgeable the techs are . . they didnt even know what it ment when i asked how much a remapping would be. . they also dont sound very enthusiastic when i ask them questions about my buell

Sacramento, CA
Some good ol' fashioned customer service is ALWAYS a plus...

Of course, Aftermarket stuff to...

and how bout, if someone says they want a certain bike YOU FIND IT FOR THEM!!! don't BS them around with, well there aren't any more of those, but i conveiniently have this on my floor... I'm paying $12,000 for a bike, you better get me what i want, or i go bye bye.... Just my 2 cents.

AWESOME BIKE THOUGH.

That's totally what happened to me. I went in with $12K cash and had to go elsewhere because the "Wouldn't" sell me a BUELL. I have gone in there over and over and since they see my all the time they are starting to open up for me, I don't know about any other Buellers in town ( Jacksonville/ New River, NC) but THey don't know about the parts, what common problems are, don't care for your bike when it's serviced. saturday I took my bike in bacause the rear bake fluid was near empty, it hadn't been, so I asked them to check it out and see if there was a leak. They said it would probably be MON morning. I hadn't walked out to my wifes car before I heard it come back around the building and my phone rang. "Oh it was just low." he said. Duh that's why I brought it in. WHY is it low? " That's just How Buells are..." yeah whatever. thanks for the 1/2 cup of Brake fluid. I would prefer some accessories too. I want a Buell Patch or stickers or shirt or something. an Oval Beltbuckle.. New River Harley has 1 leather Jacket, which they won't ever sell because it's a xxl. I have to special order everything adn they can't tell me if it's compatible with my bike because they don't know. Be interested in us when we ask about the bikes. Like others have said, Know about the bikes adn ride them a little, even if it's just a shop bike. and Don't tell me I don't want a buell when I came in asking about a specific model. Thanks workor2wheel for making an effort. Get some other dealers in on it. send them here maybe. :)
