I need some experienced advice!

I receintly purchased a Remus Revolution for a 2009 US Buell Lightning XB12SCG. When it arrived I noticed that the inlet on the exhaust was larger than the one on my bike. I emailed the company that I bought it from and he said that the exhaust that they sent is the right one for my bike and that the headers on my bike must be the wrong size.

My bike:

i would say they sent you the wrong pipe, the pipe size on my 09scg that i bought new and has the stock headers matches your stock pipe measurments.

^^ Um...he bought a 12 pipe which leads me to believe that he has a 12 - which would mean that he *should* have bigger headers than your 9.

my guess is euro spec 09 exhaust (which has a CAT) Typically when you order a euro exhaust you need to order the 03-07(8?) models that did NOT have CAT's in them yet.

Is is possible to upgrade headers to match the size of the exhaust they sent me or is that not something you would want to do?

Just measured mine. It's 2". I can't speak for the Euro spec but I know the 9 pipe fits on the 12 and visa versa.

Tell Remus that they are idiots and they better give you a discount for being so f'n dumb. That is unacceptable. "Oh your bike must have the wrong header on it" That's a bunch of bullshit and it's terrible business practice.

I retract my previous post due to the enlightenment of those after me :p.

I forgot about the euro pipes - thanks for correcting me. [up]

09 as in 2009 ^ and they are the same size anyway.the people you are dealing with are idiots

^^Blah :D - sorry dude! My fault, your bad :p

You people on the forum are great! <-no sarcasm. Wealth of knowledge here!

asking again - never got an answer for this question

thank you for your input

anrkizm - so you are saying that I can purchase a sleeve to reduce the size of the exhaust inlet to fit the header union and it would be ok to do - my performance would not suffer

You're going to need a ton of exhaust sealant as well. But you're just fixing a problem that you shouldn't have to begin with.

your going to need to tune your bike for the new exhaust.installing the adapter isnt going to effect your performance anymore than the right pipe would have.you will need to cut the header or the pipe to make up for the length of the adapter.other wise the angles will be off as far as mounting points.you should make them take the pipe back and send you the right one.what was the name of the company.maybe if they knew you were going to post their name on a site with 8000 buell owners they would do something.cant see why you would need a ton of sealant if you use the right adapter.but i agree with dave you shouldnt need to.

I agree with both of you. The adapter is butt ugly anyway. I paid alot of money for this exhaust and I want the right one. I don't want to cut and paste my exhaust on my brand new bike. I am waiting for a response from the exhaust dealer, hopefully he will make things right.

It's NOT a US spec exhaust. It's a euro one. They sold you the wrong part. What is the part #????? Just look it up.

Don't bother w/ adapters and sealant
