    Lightning Exhaust

I just installed a Jardine aluminum system on my XB9R and I really like the sound but it breathes so freely that it pops and back fires on deceleration. Is that typical of all the aftermarket exhausts? Does the EBR race can pop and backfire on decal as well? The Jardine really is a significant...

    Firebolt higher bars?

Anyone know what it takes to raise the bars on a Firebolt? There used to be an XB9R running around in Ramona, CA. that the guy had raised the handlebars and the fairing. Bike was done really well, you wouldn't have known if he didn't tell you. I'm guessing you need a top triple clamp from an...

Changing a head gasket, have a question?

Checking in after a long winter's rest As I posted on 10-21-15, I removed engine from the Buell after blowing a head gasket while goofing off on a wonderful October Saturday night ride. Since then I have been busy raising my 2 boys and taking care of my wife, celebrating the holidays, and my...

    Lord of the Piston Rings?

Thanks for the help guys. I was able to use cjanderson_90's links and find the p/n. I called our local HD dealer (Biggs in San Marcos) they had them in stock for $23 a set. All is well...Metz

    New piston ring break in?

I'm just running a hone through the cylinders to de-glaze them and the rings are stock HD rings.

    New piston ring break in?

So how do you recommend I break in my new piston rings? Specifically, what oil do I run while breaking in the rings? I have heard rings have a tough time seating in when using synthetics. My plan is to use a standard 20W-50 for 500 miles or so, then switch back to synthetic. Good idea, bad...

    Junk engine case set

Does anyone have a junk Buell engine case set they want to sell cheap or donate to a good cause? I mean junk, rod through the side kind of junk. I need a set of cases to build a transmission jig for my Buell (2006 XB9R, but I think all of the XB cases are the same?). I will pass the jig on R&D...

    Lord of the Piston Rings?

Had to tear down my XB9R to fix a tranny issue, and while I am in there I am going to go ahead and freshen it up with a new set of piston rings. My Buell has 30K on it, and runs great, all of the piston and cylinder dimensions check out so no large hard parts need replacing. So, Buell Nation...

    De-carbonizing pistons

Yes I do have it apart. Should have made that clear, sorry. Thanks for the good input John, but bike had a blown head gasket so it may have only cleaned 1 cylinder anyway... Will give the ATF a try. Just soak it, or brush and scrub? Thanks...Metz

    De-carbonizing pistons

Anyone know any tricks for de-carbonizing (getting the carbon build-up off) of pistons and cylinder head/combustion chambers? I am going through the engine on my XB9R and the pistons look great except for the carbon coating top coat... Thanks...Metz

    Yamabond or Threebond 1194

Anyone know of any great tricks for removing Yamabond 4 or ThreeBond 1194? Last owner of my XB9R used it prolifically and I need to remove it. Thanks...Metz

2003 XB9R no first or second gear... shifting issues help!

It could be a bent shift fork, but likely isn't as that would still allow either first or second, but not both. My best "GUESS" is that the sliding gear has galled to the shaft due to lack of lubrication and it no longer slides (not easily anyway). By continuing to try putting the bike in 1st...

Buell fuel line clip 2006 XB9R

Yeah, I will probably end up going the universal kit route... I was just wondering if anyone knew if it was the same as a Chrysler, Ford, or GM clip, and which size it is, 1/4", 5/16", or 3/8"?

Changing a head gasket, have a question?

Well, I went off the deep end now... Since I needed a head gasket, and the old Buellster has had a hard shifting issue in 4th and 5th gears, I went ahead and pulled the engine testerday for a complete tear down all the way to the trans. I figure I can fix all the little issues, freshen it up...
