Air box mod question

Cool.

So if I buy that it comes with 1 map? If that map isn't set up right for my bike it's just as useless as the standard one yeah?

Ulternative I could buy theFully programmable Engine Control Module kit

But even then I'd have to spend an extra $500 to give this to the mechanic just so he can tune it once.. ? I don't really feel confident playing with this stuff myself I can see it all going up in flames (literally)

Sorry about all the questions I'm pretty new to this kind of stuff.

I would just like to buy an ECM and go to a mechanic who has the ability and tools to tune it themselves.

The standard race ECM I posted the link to would be perfect if you've done exhaust and airbox mod.

Once you get into crazy mods, or if you want to have a fine tuned ECM you'd get the programable one.

But I'm sure the $250 job would suit you well

Cool, I only have a Termignoni exhaust and I plan on opening up the airbox. Is it just a case of plugging in the ECM and away we go?

Anything else required?

Sorry if I'm going a bit off topic here, I should create another thread.

continuing with the slightly off topicness... the programmable ecm from ebr
if purchased, should i go ahead and get ALL the performance mods done to my bike beforehand?

I was wondering what the difference in airflow are in the early model xb with the opening in the frame vs newer with that filled for fuel

I wonder the same thing browland. But I am going to have my air on both ends because i have a newer style airbox I am putting on my bike which has the older style frame.

it seams to me with the old frame removing the inner wouldn't add a whole lot of airflow unless you changed the outer airbox to the vented style

I have an '04 'Bolt with the open frame. I pulled the snorkle out and I seem to be doing just fine with my open airbox.

Hi everyone, sorry for adding to this after such a long time but I was hoping someone could offer some advice?
I have '05 XB12S and I've removed the whole inner air box like the ASB kit but kept the Adaptive Muffler controller too as I have the stock muffler. It's all bolted and set just as usual just without anything around the filter.
I have now fouled two sets of plugs as it's running too rich? I thought it would run too lean with the extra air?
Has anyone else had to remap the fuel maps after modding?
I have ECMSpy but haven't used it yet.
ANY help would be be appreciated.
Cheers
