Bike for GF - what to choose?

I started on a '95 Yamaha FZR and rode it harder than my old 636. Didn't know that a 140 rear tire could go low enough to drag peg LOL. Loved that bike and am avidly supporting people having starter bikes before diving in head first to something with a lot of power or expense.[up]

I have to agree, starter bike is a proven way to actually save money, cheaper to fix, always a market for resale as a starter bike, less likely to scare the bejesus out of her, and if for some ungodly reason she decides she doesn't like operating a bike, you aint out much cash.
JMHO

I would get a CBR1000RR for my woman as a starter bike, that way when she decides she is too afraid to ride it I can have it :D

That's not the worst advice I've ever heard...

Actually, MAGIC--whose money are we spending on the proposed bike?

My wife wants to learn in the spring. I'll be picking her up a Blast, and if she doesn't like it. That will be my ice bike.. Gotta think ahead ;)

I pay $500 in cash and $1000 goes on my credit card and we'll split the payment.

In the future I'll sell Blast and lower my XB for her and get me 1125CR or whatever EBR gonna come out with.

We're going to drive today to check the Blast out.

Got it! The red Blast. Actually paid $1400. I have to borrow a pick up truck to bring it over to our place. Pics soon!

Congrats Magic, she looks nice and clean.. gotta love the price too.

Blasts are great .She will have a hard time parting with it.
We bought the blast thinking for sure she would dump it.
The ten months we owned it. I was the only person that did . .Don't let them idle un attended on the kickstand it may shake right off.

She has since moved up to my xb9sx and gets more girly by the week LOL Kidding sort of.
Low shock put r triple on it to slip the forks.
By spring it will likely have a 1125r fairing on it.

PS she has Dropped the xb twice [smirk]

First time she felt so bad she broke a peg she didn't want to ride it home.

Be sure you have frame pucks on it when she does move up. short girls have a rough time pushing the bike out of parking spots.
BTW i made $200 on the blast after we put tires on it and road them off.

Awesome!!!!! it has Pass. Pegs she can give you rides. Weeeeeeee

That's one of the reasons I bought it! Hahaha. I have XB and wasn't taking her for rides; actually I removed the rear pegs and said it's one seater now. I just hated having a passenger but she wanted to ride with me so I was like fine - and got her Blast. Now we need to wait for Spring and I'll teach her - she has no idea what's what... Poor me. Got myself in trouble again ;).

Ohhh, you are daring. Gonna teach her yourself huh? I'm having my wife take the safety course, for some reason every time I try to teach her something it turns out bad. But I'm sure its my fault.. (at least thats what she tells me) :D

By saying it I meant that I'm kinda afraid about the same story happened to you going to happen to me but I'll try.

How's it ride? Is it pig slow?

I kinda wanted one as a throw around bike that I don't have to care about.

I don't know yet. I rode around the block but it's like 20 degrees outside and windy plus some snow and ice patches here and there so I didn't go crazy. I mean compares to my xb it's like bicycle hahaha. But honestly the power is there and it's pretty responsive for 30some hp. Super light and easy to ride too. But if you weight 200+ lbs it's definitely not for you.
