Just thought id post up that i am running my 03 xb9r on alcohol. Just usin E85 in it with an additive. Took a lil remapping but not to difficult. Exhaust fumes smell like cherry and gives more power mid to top. Tell me what yall think

around here E85 is like 10 cents a galoon cheaper... but thats pretty awesome that you got it to run on it

e85 is about 30% less efficient than gas, meaning you have to use about 30% more e85 to get the same power as gas. the only benefit it provides is a higher octane rating, not sure how much that is needed on a buell motor. If it were available in florida i would have converted my turbo motors over to it but those are balls to the wall type motors trying to squeeze out every last drop.

it runs pretty good really. I spray 40 percent more down low and 30 percent more everywhere else. Im in texas and its like 70 cents cheaper a gallon to supreme. dont think there are any bad effects caus im using an oil additive to keep my seals and stuff good. definetly pulls harder on mid and top end. only bad effect is gas mileage goes down to like 40-50 mpg that i can calculate. but with what it is less its stiller cheaper with more power caus its 110 octane. i just thought it was cool and yall may like to know bout it.

its good to know that the stock fuel pump, lines and injectors are up to spraying that much more fuel. the added octane should allow you to go more aggressive with the timing tables as well

well the injectors work fine on the 9's caus they are the same ones as on the 12's. for the 12's ud need bigger ones. they both run 29 pounds.

don't know enough about it i guess, thought e-85 was not as explosive as gasoline. are you sure your boost in power isn't from the fuel additive?

want to hear more

it isnt as explosive as gas, around 30% less explosive lol. thats why you need to run more of it to make the same power as gas. the only way you get more power from e85 over gas is tuning to take advantage of the higher octane. Its a very popular fuel in the turbo world, i wish it were available here in florida

yes you do make more power. like turbo said u take advantage of the higher octane by spraying more fuel. and no chili the additive is purely to keep the seals lubricated since alcohol will dry them out. its also sented cherry so my exhaust smells like em. it makes the females go "does ur exhaust smell like cherry" and i be like "yes maam it does" ;) haha. they like that. but i just thought some of yall would appreciate it since it is big in the racin circles.

E85 has been around 60cents cheaper near me. I have run it in a few tanks and had no real ups or downs.

It does suck with the fuel economy, but overall it doesnt a real down side other than the milage.

I run it in my Tundra as it is a FFV but only when fuel prices go up as E85 stays the same $2.29, but it only allows me 9.5mpg versus my normal 12.5mpg with regular fuel

the fuel economy does suck but with the cost difference in gas price it still saves. and ur right, it doesnt gain much it just squeezes out a lil extra. and its just kinda a cool thing ya kno

someone correct me if Im wrong, but in Ca. all we can get is E85. Tyler are you using a fuel additive or an oil additive? I would think a fuel additive would be what was needed to keep the seals in the fuel system lubed?

Here in Brazil liter of fuel goes alcohol 3x less than a gallon of gasoline .... good idea, but what parts you swapped the bike?

Kalifornia that's not e85 your getting the 10% blend.
Another big advantage is lower cylinder temp.
Allot of hot rodders are switching to it if it where more reasonable and avalible I would like to swap over

I have heard that the alcohol can dry out seals and orings faster mainly in pumps /shrug and the reason that e85 is cheaper is because of government subsidies well anyways that's what I heard at the last bike run I went on

what i use is a fuel additive that contains an oil in it. since alcohol will nauturally dry out rubber it just lubricates the rubber parts aka. seals that it comes in contact with preventin this from happening. it also is scented which makes my exhaust smell like cherries as i stated before. which always gets fun reactions.
