Blown Fuel Pump Fuse

Buellxb Forum

Help Support Buellxb Forum:

I got stranded on a highway in a construction zone (no shoulders) with this problem on my 09 Ulysses. I was in the left lane and somehow managed to get off the road without getting run down, just left wondering what happened. I vaguely recalled reading about blown fuel pump fuses and did in fact find a blown fuse. I can't fathom why the fuse panel or cover isn't labeled, so I had to look it up on my phone to find the spare. This got me going and I eventually took it to the HD shop to have it checked out.

They've had it for over a week and have yet to give me an update. I have called but whomever I speak to needs to check with the tech.... I think they're waiting on parts (big surprise for a Buell).

I do want to thank you (plural) and this forum for giving me the heads up as I would not have even thought to check the fuses otherwise.

They can but cant get fuel pump its on back order. but i know thier are a couple manufacturers that make the same pump i just need the part numbers to give to the shop and then they can get me on the road and by the way i'm all ready in a law suit with them.

to frank they just called me and told me this.

My 08 lighting has been in the shop since June waiting for a pump. The Canadian distributor says there are none in north anerica. They might have one by the end of September. The dealer thinks they can get a 2010 pump and use the regulator from mine by the end of August.

I really do like my bike but am very disappointed with the 'orphaned' status especially as it pertains to parts. I just don't see how parts could disappear given that HD pledged support and they are required by law to do so for 7 years.

I'm pretty new to Buell. Have parts always been hard to come by?

just got home from work and the dealer had called and I get my bike back Monday with the proper pump.they had both pumps ordered and the 08 just showed up.They don't know why and I don't care I missed most of the summer and will be happy just to go for a ride.I hope that every one who is waiting gets theirs soon.

got mine back w/ a new pump ... hopefully i won't get stranded again ... or maybe i hope i do & can lemon law it ... anyway, pretty discouraging, disenchanting, whatever, considering this is my first bike and missed my first season altogether, basically ... the guys in service all had down's syndrome, i think, so i was considering calling my original salesman (nice guy, his manager was a douche and almost blew it for him) & calmly explaining why my first scheduled maintenance should be discounted ... also, frank rizzo's experience sounds like a good time for a new rider like me, looking forward to that (i think i still regret not getting the ulysses - i didn't have the extra cash - but i'm enjoying myself plenty when it's been running)

just go get the hepco and becker bags 30 litres and braket and a cee baileys wind shield and it all most be having an XT

Another 90+ day today and of course on my way home from work sitting at a stop light the bike goes dead. get it pulled onto a side street, sure enough fuel pump fuse... again.... put a spare fuse in and not half a mile bam bike dies again. same thing. got to gas station and filled up and made it home. called local dealership and the dude gave me attitude. basically asked me

"what i would like him to do, because he has a million bikes 2 days bf a holiday blah blah blah."
so i said "fix my bike. I will be there when you open tomorrow to drop it off."
So he is like "well we can probably get to it next friday."

"Well im sure if you wait until next friday it will most likely be 70 degrees out and it wont happen again."

so he says we will see what we can do.

of course tomorrow is suppose to be 90's again so idk why he cant spare 1 tech to take it out so it blows the fuse for him so that they will replace my damn fuel pump......

grrrrr /rant

Well got a call this afternoon from dealer.... they are going to replace my fuel pump. I asked them if they were able to recreat problem and they were like no but everything that has gone on seems like the pump.

i think they just got sick of me and are actually doing what should be done.

so while we wait for fuel pump to come in ill just have to be careful when its hot out...

to bad it has to come down to bitching or being a pain in the ass to get something done.glad to hear theyre going to tack care of you.[up]

i had this happen to my 09 XB12Ss today. I replaced the fuse with the spare and it blew instantly also.I was close to a nearby shopping centre and luckily ran into my sister in law who drove me to an auto parts store to get some 10amp fuses. I came back and replaced the fuse and it fired up and i rode home. MY warranty is out by a month and i have lost trust in what has happpened..It was a warm day and i was in traffic but that cant be avoided every time i want to ride. Could i have had some ****** fuses or would this point directly to a pump issue? How hard is it to change a pump is thats what has to be done?. And i also had about half a tank or maybe more of fuel and i dont run the pump low as i realise they need to be cooled.Any ideas or feedback?

the fuel pump is covered by emissions warranty to 18000 miles.if you buy one your self it will be over 300 bucks.its not the fuses its the pump or wiring.

was there an updated part number?? I have spoken to my dealer and my bike is out of warranty by not even a week but the service advisor didnt have any experience of this issue before.i asked if he had some reference number to keep from hd but he said no. He is trying to help me i think and being in australia i need as much info as i can assist with this drama. Will it be ok to ride an hour to the dealer or should i freight it? Fill with fuel or not? Any help is apprecated.i love this bike but now im worried of getting stuck or it failing thru an intersection.
