If you wanted to put everyones mind at peace all you would have to do would be to take off the shock remove the spring and then reinstall the shock. If the tire hits under the fender with the shock bottomed out think what could happen if your going 60 mph and the shock bottoms out ?. If you have enough room between tire and bike put the spring back on and have fun.

TWOBUELLS, how bout u take off your spring and drive your bike that way and tell me how your ride is cause mine rides perfect the way I modified it. I ride to work everyday minimum 60 mph and hit lots of bumps on the road and my suspension barely moves. Not sure what was the point of your message.

nice looking bike. the black and orange look good together. even if it is the color of the enemy.

Lol the enemy as in HD ? WELL I took my bike to the dealer on bike show nite n they were so amazed. Many of workers wished they could continue seeing buells produced thru HD but its not their decision. I hope whoever takes buell over smacks HD in face with the profits they will make from all the buell enthusiasts out there. I heard a rumor that someone read on the magazine that aprilia was thinking of taking over buell. Not sure but let's see.

Didn;t say ride it that way. It would show that the tire would not hit the fender. I said to reinstall the spring before rideing. If you were building a new bike one of the basic steps is to put on the shocks - springs to check for tire cleareance.

Two buells I don't think u realized that my setup has the spring n doesn't touch . Look thru the pics n u will c

I am new to the Buell forum and would like to chime in a little on this post.My name is Charles Lauro and if you google patents by Charles Lauro you will see I have the back ground to make a few statmemts.First off the idea is great and I love seeing someone trying to make changes to make a bike fit, production of motorcycles are not like cars were you just slide the seat forward to fit. His approach to the problem leaves room for the links to move and this is unacceptable. It has to be a solid connection and a block of stainless inserted into the bike area for the shock with a (U) of 1/4 stainless welded to except the shock would be a better set up, I would also recommend that you go no lower then one inch on your drop.
TThanks
Bill

Deerebill, My setup is done with no possible way for the links to move at all unless the frame breaks from an accident, there is nothing going to move this. The steel link are fabricated perfectly. I have been using the bike daily like this for almost a year. You can even pick the bike up from the subframe and slam it on the ground several times and I gaurantee you it wont move or I will pay you if you can accomplish getting them to move. Thats how sure I am. I had several motorcycle fabricators who assisted me in this process.

If this set up works for you and you feel that it is safe then that is all you need, and all I can say is great job well done. The bike looks very good and when I get mine I will also lower it because my inseam is only 28inches.Should pick it up next week it is a 03 XB9S.
Good luck
Bill

That would be it. I really like the look it has. What kind of chain conversion is that? Is it stock swing arm, with a 200 tire?
