Good morrow ladies and gents!

My Firebolt is my only vehicle, so riding it everywhere and making road trips gets to be a little rough on the backside. I road trip pretty often, 5-7 hours or so.

Wondering what you all have found for comfy seats for your bikes, or seat covers, or anything to make my poor ass feel a bit better haha.

I'm eventually planning to get a Uly, which I'm sure will be far better for those kinds of trips, but until then... What say?

Thanks!

I'm curious as well, I often ride all day and my ass is about the only thing that gets sore now. My knees and wrists did as well, but I bought 1" drop pegs(lightning pegs) and got some thicker grip slip on covers from another member and now my wrists and knees are happy, which only makes the seat more noticeably uncomfortable...

Well, i don't have an R, but i have heard they are way better for comfort than the stock R seat & trying to find an oem buell comfort seat for an R might be tough. maybe someone that has one will chime in.

wow $260 for a seat....

Think I'd rather try re padding and covering mine for that price.

Yeah but $260 for the well being of my ass, especially on my only vehicle, seems like it approaches a fair trade.

Yeah I guess I'm just cheap. Just seems like a rip off to me, I'd think I could pad and cover mine for like $50 or less in an hour or two.

Those look nice! I wonder how much it would cost to get the stock one repadded and recovered.... anyone ever do that?

I may get one those from ASB for my bolt just for a spare,I got lucky when Harley kicked Eric Buell out the door cause my dealer had a select buell seat and it was the last one they had so I got it before someone else got it.:)

I have the bolt and the 1125r, I use the comfort seat but have no idea why it is called that. There's only a slight difference between that and stock.

I'm not paying that price.

Padded bicycle shorts for less than $50 works for me. I do several hour loops, one break, and that's all the comfort I need. Before that, my whole hip, everything, was seizing up in little over half an hour. Huge difference.

So they feel funny when you walk… so what? Ride.

I have this one:

Now that I've had it for a bit I've adjusted and like it a lot. It's much firmer, wider, and taller than the stock seat. You will still slide forward under braking, but not as bad. When you slide back accelerating the shape catches your ass and generally keeps you there. By wider, I mean it IS wider and it is shaped more square and taller than stock. I find this allows you to grip with your legs better, but the increased ride height has moved where my knees contact the frame (I'm 6', 185). This hasn't bothered me as of yet, just pointing it out. Overall, I find it much better than stock and worth the price. When I inquired with Ballwin a couple of years ago, recovering my stock seats was much more, over $400, IIRC. Oh, and it also seems to block heat much better than stock too. It definitely looks better too.

Thanks a lot guys, this is exactly the type of input I was looking for. I completely neglected to consider padding my ass and not the seat with some riding shorts or something, that's a great compromise until I can save up for one of those ASB seats like plasticgunz has. And apparently it's not worth the price of getting a stock seat redone. Unless you wanted a custom look to it
