That thing slid about a foot... Then it came to abrupt stop... Cause it smashed into something solid.... Like a big ass rock... Or a dinosaur.... That chewed it up and spit out. Hardly any scraping as youd expect from sliding, the exhaust took a hard solid hit as well as the rim. Be a cautious buyer, the seller either lying or doesnt know

The bike would be a easy fix, if you bought it for $900-$1000......but you will need to look at a few things behind the header you have the voltage regulator wire and idiot oil light switch.

The right fork looks bent...
Also check his story with what the bike looks like... There are a lot of people that are full of ****.

And to be honest that bike looks like it fell through the tounge of a trailer while going down the road......Long story but yes, i have seen it before....
Which explains the rim and tire with the burn hole through it. It also explains the header and no other real damage.

********!... It was a dinosaur!

I skimmed the post and didn't see a mention of how much he wants for it... but I'd steer clear unless it's something on the order of 500 bucks.

^^ thats hilarious youve seen that. Even better if thats what really happened.

Squidbuellies the man to talk/listen to on deals like this.

Alright so here's the update from tonight

I believe you are correct about the oil line behind the header.
As soon as we turned it on, oil started pouring from behind the header. It only leaks when the bike is on but we turned it off right away.
I don't think it is oil starved because he got it serviced right before he wrecked it.
Here's a picture of behind the header where it was leaking

not sure about the oil filter itself.

Your right! When he wrecked it he hit a rock.
Electrical and engine seemed fine except for oil.

So overall list of problems are:
Front tire
Front rim
Fairing Stay
Exhaust header
2 Mirrors
Turnsignal
Rear peg
The oil line
Needs a new battery
And anything else having to do the oil line problem

Do you guys think this is worth paying more than $500 for?
Thats what i thought to offer him

$500 you could drop $2500 into repairs and upgrades and have an amazing machine.

That... or you could spend the same or perhaps just a little more (3.5kish) and get a non-dinosaur-eaten one. ;o) Thing just seems too much trouble to be worth it - unless you're really excited about doing work on a bike yourself.

Id buy its just to horde it keep these greedy jerks from ripping it to shreads! Jk id fix that **** all ghetto and still be bad ass

From a financial decision I would never do it, so many things can be wrong beyond what you an see once you actually get into it, and with my luck everything possible would be bent broken an leaking. Unless he handed it over I wouldn't do it.

I paid $3900 for a 08 xb12r with 3500 miles in sept of 2012. needed new rear tire because of a staple..bike is mint and untouched..keep looking around. It's worth spending the extra $500 to buy a bike that you know is safe to ride.:D

Thanks for the relpies and help guys!

I'll offer him $500 and see where it goes from there. I have a friend offering me his 99 savage for $1000 and it runs well. I love the buell a lot more though

You are going to need the fitting into the motor and the oil line and that if it is only that one. If it tweaked at the oil cooler cause thats where that line leads you may need a new oil cooler too. The threads on the oil cooler are very fragile. If it hit the other line underneath you are looking at 80-120 for those two oil lines and about 100 for the oil cooler including the little fittings. It will only spew oil when its running because those lines only have oil in them cycling when the oil pump is running.

how do i know which one is which? I assume ill have to take the bottom fairing off.

So just out of curiosity... If it hit a rock how did it burn a hole in the front tire?
Also I think that, trying to repair this bike is over your paint grade.
It would be in your best interest to buy a running riding.

Sounds like a project I suggest you steer clear. Like stated before there's alot of things you might not be seeing. But if you get it for the right price and feel youve gotten over your head afterwords there are a lot of good parts. If you had to I'm sure you could make your money back.

I'm assuming he hit the rock which broke the rim and snapped the fairing stay and then it folded in to hit the header. Would be consistent with the damages

coderunner.. just sayin". I wouldnt touch that thing with a ten foot pole. Id give him 200-300 bucks and just use it as parts bike. You can luck into BX12Rs with low miles in perfect running order for like 2 grand, sometimes less. Now if you could find ANOTHER $400 XB wreck you may end up with most of what you need to get one together but I would expect a long tourtued bike project to get eveything youre gonna need.

How much are you willing to spend? Is this just something youve come across and can get for short money? If you dont have a few grand to spend and you dont mind taking your time then maybe it would be worth it just to get a cheap ride but if youve got 2 grand or so, I would just look for a runner. Those headers alone are getting hard to find in decent shape for a decent price. Sometimes you find stuff parted out on ebay for cheap..but this is gonna be a pain in the ass to deal with.. that front wheel is tough to find used and its always pertty expensive.
