coderunner.. just sayin". I wouldnt touch that thing with a ten foot pole. Id give him 200-300 bucks and just use it as parts bike. You can luck into BX12Rs with low miles in perfect running order for like 2 grand, sometimes less. Now if you could find ANOTHER $400 XB wreck you may end up with most of what you need to get one together but I would expect a long tourtued bike project to get eveything youre gonna need.

How much are you willing to spend? Is this just something youve come across and can get for short money? If you dont have a few grand to spend and you dont mind taking your time then maybe it would be worth it just to get a cheap ride but if youve got 2 grand or so, I would just look for a runner. Those headers alone are getting hard to find in decent shape for a decent price. Sometimes you find stuff parted out on ebay for cheap..but this is gonna be a pain in the ass to deal with.. that front wheel is tough to find used and its always pertty expensive.

Well im looking for a bike for this summer for transportation. Most im willing to pay for the bike is $500. I can get all the repairs done without paying for the labor. So just weighing the cost for parts. Also ive found a rim for 225 which is pretty cheap imo

225 is actually pretty close to new price from what I remember.. Id be looking for more like a hundred. If you are willing to take your time and hunt ebay like crazy you could probably get the whole thing together for around a 1000 as long as you get the bike for around 300-400.. but you would have to pick and scrimp and search for used parts off of wrecks.. sometimes youll find a near-whole XB being parted out. Just take your time and get it real cheap little by little. Google search the **** out of "used XB parts".. alot of the XB9 parts will work as well.

Yah ive been looking and the cheapest one after this wheel on ebay is 375

you wanna find a little bike shop that has a online store and they are parting out a wreck.. I may not be in the color you want but you can repaint it. All those Buell colors are availible in rattle can (or at least they were a few years ago) I found a shop like that online about 2 years ago but I forgot who it was, You may want to start a separate thread on here titled "Looking for cheap used XB parts" and then list everything you need and ask for the name of a shop online. You may attract the attention of guys on here that would be willing to cut you alot better deal than ebay.

Like I said, be paitent.. it could take time.. wrecks come and go online.. one time I hit ebay and a small shop was parting out a entire wrecked XB9R for dirt cheap. I got my chin spoiler for like 25 bucks, he was asking like 150 for the entire front wheel with rotor.. If you take your time and hunt carefully you could probably get that whole bike back together for like 1000- 1200 total cost and thats about what I would shoot for.. even at 2000 it would be a "ok" deal.

hey try pinwall cycles on ebay for parts also, if they don't show what you're looking for on the store front, give 'em a call, they're always parting out Buells and not list everything on ebay

tell you the truth, that busted front wheel scares me. The XB frame is strong as hell, it probably survived but I would be kinda worried that my front fork tubes were bent.. and it thats the case the cost of repair is gonna go up... they got some places that can straighten them but I have no idea what that costs.

Yea definitely take off the chin fairing and check out the lines. Here is a pic.

You need to check lines 19 and 20 cause they run very close to each other and 20 is the one that you pictured leaking. I'd get that line and 2 which is the fitting because when I reassembled after rebuilding my engine these are a pain in the ass to get to not leak once they start without just getting a new line and fitting which is what I did. Also check 3 because that is the sensor for the oil pressure and they are fragile also.

Thanks for the information and diagram! It will be really helpful.
Also about the forks, If i loosen the bolt at the top and push down on the bike to check the suspension and it works. Does this ensure that the forks are still good?

no it doesnt.. the forks can be tweaked and the shocks will still work.. youre better off looking to see if the fender is bent into a wierd twisted shape..even then small bends the tubes can effect steering in wierd ways, like having the handelbars pointing in the wrong direction... youre riding in a straight line but if you look down at the bars, they are off to one side of the other like you are in a turn..

Regaring the forks. They are bad, i dont care if they look straight or move up and down, they took a huge hit. Factor in replacing the forks. Me personally if the seller lets its go $500 id grab that thing up. I personally feel more comfortable repairing my own stuff and have the tools to do so. The parts arent that hard to find nor are they that crazy expensive compared to motorcycles in general. If the frame is good and the engine runs. Its worth it putting a buell back on the road. I like this idea better, upgrade it. D_adams builds the Keda systems (see sponsor links) get a bad ass header made, grab a rim for $250, research suspensions, ive even seen a front end converted to an R1 forks brakes and wheel, looked bad ass and brakes better. You have an opportunity to build a bad ass machine for $3500 (parts) and still come out ahead. Some people just wanna buy and ride, they should sell their Buells and get a honda, these things have the "tinker factor" if you cant work on it, dont ride it.
