Custom Reverse Exhaust Take 2

Also just noticed that the 180° bend is stainless steel..... I should really get some 2" stainless j bends to match the rest of the pipe and then it wouldn't have to be coated.

I wouldnt even put the perferated tube into a case that big, prob sound very tin'ee hollow, raspy what ever, cram that perferated tube into as tight of pipe as you can. Get that harley sound. Without a large case and packing you wont get a deep sound.

Quiet, my pipe is a 2" outlet similar to a jardine in shape, its longer by a couple inches, over all decibals the jardine is louder but mine is deeper. So id say the bigger the case you make with packing the deeper growl, but will be quiet. Deans system sound is amazing, duel large cases straight through makes for amazing sound.

So it will be quiet but sound good..... hmmmm sounds like this might be a lot of testing to find the sound I'm looking for.....

One thing I have noticed that the longer the pipe gets the quieter it gets.... right of the header is obnoxiously loud.... once I put the extra 18" on it got a bit quieter but still barked.... now throw it the 180° bend and another 16" or so of pipe.... Idk..... might have a lot of playing with this project to get a good outcome.

If you have the resources the time and interest you might even come up with the next bad ass system everyone will want. Ive thought about an under tail system but that goes against what buells were designed for and i dont like impractical mods or changes

I didnt build my pipe but it only has one muffler on the exhaust exit side. I love everything about the front exit exhaust. Keep going on this build. You will love it.

So I got the pipe mocked up and on the bike. Everything fits really good except the front slip joint on the header is gonna needs slight tweek to get the left side of the pipe to rotate up just a hair its pretty short in the rear so I'd also like to push the entire 180° bend back about 3" which I can do when I build the mufflers. The exit pipe also needs to come forward about 3" as well to match up to the notch I have cut in my chin fairing ..... so I'm far from done.

The question is how is it going to sound under your helmet , you have to listen to it when your riding. To me it sounds nasty as hell .( I mean that in a good way .) You might want to put a muffler on it though.

Idc I'll wear ear plugs on long rides.... have to wear them everyday at work anyway so it doesn't bother me. I have to get it braced better so it doesn't vibrate off like it did in the video.... lol. Once I do that I can do some tests under load cause the motor always sounds different under load. Some of the best sounding v-8 motors I ever heard were in boats cause a boat is always under load and they sound bad ass!

So I got back from Easter dinner and decided I was gonna hack up that glass pack..... I just don't like how those louvered baffles look and I can't imagine they perform all that great. The magnaflow has really nice internals but the packing was horrible. A real dense hard type of fiberglass and not all the pipe was packed either only about 2/3 had packing. I also don't really want to use the 3 1/2" case so I'm gonna grab some 3" and some steel wool tomorrow. My idea is to make two mufflers one functional and one to start out fake but depending on the sound I might make it a hollow chamber to see if I can get a good rumble out of it.

The first try will be this, The real muffler will go on the left side of the bike right after the header and will be around 16" long. The perforated tube is 2" OD just like the exhaust tube. Then into the 180° bend then into the fake muffler then out the side in the front. If that doesn't work or sound good I'm going to flip sides. The real muffler will have the inlet that can slide in and out so it can be repacked. Rivets will be hidden under the cowl....... let me know what you guys think. Thanks
