Erik's teasing us!!!!!!

I predict the 1190RS will be a near exact same bike as the Barracuda with some differences. One being the entire front fairing and headlights. I prefer the 1190 slightly narrower and pointy-er than the Barracuda's wide 1125R style anyway. Every thing else looks to be same so far from the spy shots and teaser pics. Same frame, swing arm, chain drive, front wheel, air box, sub frame, tail pieces very similar, same tail lights, same mirrors etc. I wonder if he cannot do the under slung exhaust because Harley won't let him? I hope not.

Ya, but it's based off the 1190 bits. It's not based from converted 1125's that they race.

I could be wrong on this, but I think they're going to use a full race exhaust and then add on that 2nd canister to meet epa noise regs. When racing, remove it for full power and don't worry about the sound? As far as using the original 1125 exhaust, I doubt they'll use it. The primaries for the 1190 are larger than the 1125, the main reason why (IMHO) is for power. 3 mm overbore _MIGHT_ net you an extra 20-25 hp. Theres a lot more going on with the engine internals to get that extra 50+ HP (at the wheel) over the 1125. There's a point where you simply cannot flow enough gas through the 1.75" primaries from a stock 1125 and (I think) it's somewhere around 145-150 rear wheel hp. Sure, you need high gas velocity, etc. But, at some point, it will become a restriction, just like trying to push water through a garden hose. For exhaust gas, you want little to no backpressure, ie; get the gas out of the engine and away from the vehicle.

@d_adams

Interesting theory about having an underslung exhaust still with that side can inline. Makes sense in respect to meeting new EPA that Erik did complain about just recently having to meet. Guess we will have to wait and see.

As for the rest of your post in respect to exhaust design/theories THANK YOU! Finally someone who knows and gets it.

I've been saying this over and over, cracks me up how some seem to think they "need some back pressure for the engine to run right". It's all primary length, diameter and diameter on the rest of the system. Ultimately you want high velocity without causing restriction, back pressure is simply a by-product and isn't a design parameter.

Well, I'd been told by several people that I had no idea what I was doing. I like being different and proving them to be incorrect, so I guess I'm a little stubborn sometimes.
Oddly enough, what I made worked quite well against most other manufacturers and I had considerably less for resources than they did. I've only been doing this for a year now, some of those companies have been around for a LONG time, ie; more than 30 years. There's a lot of theory floating around out there on the interwebz and even more that's been printed on paper. I guess I just got lucky with my designs.

Also of note, it looks like they're using 2 smaller pipes for that 2nd can, which makes it easier to bend around the swingarm and keep it a little more flush to the side of the bike. Easier to do tighter bends with smaller tubing, etc. Lower profile, that kinda thing.

You mean this? Pretty sure it's already in the works.
That is a definite no Erik responded to someones question about obtaining one, and he's said something along the lines of it was a project by team Pegasus and he does not have the ability to invest time in a streetfighter version as of now. Too much on his plate.

pick up a copy of road racing world(feb), there's a little article about the naked 1190rs in there. pretty much substantiating my claim.

He said Mr Buell, There will be a naked bike also and a MX bike will follow too
can you send me a link of this article per chance?
i'm curious.

the barracuda is a sexy bike... I'm wondering how the 1190rs will look finalized... Those mirrors on the "motorcyclist" pic above look hideous, kinda like wilted flowers, and what is with the exhaust??

your $24,000 price is way high, he want them to be around the $14,000. mark .

Dont think so, wishful thinking for sure. I think we would all like to see that price.

I dont think it's going to be less expensive than the mass produced 1190 RC8

I agree

what...???

there is no way the bike will be in the $35k price range

the brand new 2011 Ducati Diavel is only priced at $25,500 USD for the Carbon fiber version, for the normal version its only $21,000 USD
