Feedback needed for a potential 5-0dro XB Pulley Cover

Buellxb Forum

Help Support Buellxb Forum:

1) aluminum
2) 50-75 is all the more I would pay, if I were to pay any more i would have a one off piece made
3) open as you could get without losing a boot, as for shape I don't have a preferance right now
4) I would have to see what the cover looked like over the pulley before deciding on a different pully

never know 50dro after you make them i may have to have one

Oh...I see...

Rizoma

I didn't realize that there was a clear window on there and that the words spun with the pulley. It looks like a stamped part to me. Is that window hard to keep clean?

The bare aluminum cost alone is around $20 - $30 so that's not a reality for a CNC machined part. My cost will likely exceed that by alot.

I hope so! ;)

Been working on a design today that's looking pretty cool! I hope to be able to show it (CAD picture) sometime later this week.[cool]

1. Aluminium (anodized or powder coated maybe color to order?)
2. $75 - 100, extra for color option
3. Opening similar to free spirits
4. Personally I would clean up the pulley, but cover option would be nice ($25 extra)

Almost forgot to post it here... Check out what I drafted up tonight!

Feedback!![cool]

Agree with a pulley cover to contrast would be great. Make for a more mechanical look with something off balanced behind it.

Looks nice man. A pulley cover like mentioned above would look killer behind that. Especially if you could offer it in a few different colors, with a subtle 50dro logo stamped in the middle spinnin away. IMO.[up] Can't wait to get those axle sliders in a couple weeks.:)

i made my own out of aluminum, drew it on cad and got it laser cut out. sold a few. some liked them and some said it looks cheseesy. but in person everyone loves them and it matches my theme like crazy.
good luck cant wait to see how yours turn out.

Not loving it but a good start.

Now if i just lived on a paved road
belt protection over rules looks for me

Will it have a plexy attachment or is it going to be open? Open is bad for me to. Belts are expensive.

Looking forward to seeing the end result. I like the idea of aluminum. As long as the costs weren't to high.

Thanks. For all the feedback thus far!

I was thinking open like the Free Spirits is but that's why I created this thread...to get feedback from you guys. Keep it coming! Please try to be specific about what you like/dislike.

Thanks!

I like the over all shape but I feel it's too busy.

I'd like to see the circle open.

Not to big on the plexy or screen idea in it's place.

The outline looks great!

The inside has an industrial / erecktor set look which is throwing me off.

Thanks Riderdie!

Let me make sure I understand what you mean...

By you wanting to see the circle open do you mean increase the size of the central feature or completely open it. Completely opening it is a concern to me for rider safety.

What do you mean by "inside?" The rear portion of it? Maybe fill in the two holes near the rear bolt?

Thanks again! Good feedback![up]

Completely open it. The part that covers the pulley resembles an open orange.

Maybe take out the inside parts of the circle and reduce the opening.

I thought about the safety factor also but i assume the cover fits pretty close to the pulley and if the circle of your cover is smaller than the front sprocket then your only worrying about the center where the locking plate is which is nothing and not going in through that hole around to get snagged between the teeth.

I've had the stock pulley cut out for a few thousand miles and no problem with the large opening.

Rear portion- left side
Inside- the inner support shapes mainly the "orange"

Although I'm not fond of the inner circle it's hard to get a good picture of it on the bike. I'm sure If the thing was on a bike it's going to look good.

Maybe if you do try taking out the orange slices throw two smaller openings on the right side of the circle similar to what's on the left but smaller and mirrors the line of the circle on the circle side and flat on the others (triangular)

Sorry if it's confusing wish this had a word art function.
Needless to say it looks sweet and complicated as ****. excited to see the final product!

Looks good.

And as for the perspex for belt protection, most guys remove the lwr belt guard which I think is way more important for protecting the belt from rocks as they get pulled in between the belt and rear pulley.

If a rock flicked up on the belt near an open fwd pulley it gets pushed away by the direction the belt is travelling, just my thoughts.

I'm sure not everyone will be happy with just one of the designs you come up with so maybe you could have a few different designs 4 sale on your site.

Another suggestion for your product line too, nice looking lwr belt guard for an Ss swingarm :D
