Thanks X!! Next step will be to get some quotes to make sure I have things in line, then I can work on finalizing (& perfecting) the design.[cool]

FYI I have built a couple of covers like yours and you will need to space out the chin spoiler. The front lower bolt is behind the spoiler when installed, if you make a flat cover.

Sorry it's been a while since I've updated you guys. I have been working on this cover but it's coming along a little slower than I had hoped. I've taken Matt's advise and made provisions that I think will keep it from interfering with the chin spoiler. It's currently out for quote with several vendors and I hope to get a rapid prototype of it for fitment this week. I'll certainly post pics of it fitted up on my bike. Here's what it looks like right now. Keep in mind that all the details of the cosmetic pulley cover will be in the background and will be laser etched into the part. It's kinda hard to read in the pic but the cover has my website and logo on it connected with a thin stripe. The sketch lines in the center of the pulley will NOT be there and the lines WILL NOT have the dots at the ends as displayed. The design lends itself to being able to be flipped over if you don't prefer to display my logo etc. Let me know what you think:

I like it. Nice that your giving 2 options when it comes to the type of look that some people want. Me if the prcie is good I'll be one of the many that would be sporting your logo. Keep up the good work 50dro[up][up]

Through the 2 bolts on the inner part of the pulley and 2 standoffs. The outer cover will hide the bolts somewhat.

Thanks X![up]

Let me throw this one out there...The original thought was to make this out of 1/8" thick aluminum but I'm now considering a thinner (around 1/16"thick) stainless (or maybe even plain steel?) part. Unfortunately it would weight 1 1/2 times more but may be easier to manufacture. Either material would be either powder coated or anodized (AL only).

Is that desirable? Acceptable? Why or why not? Thoughts and comments welcomed!

Thanks!

I say do your thing, if it has enough support the thinner materials wont have any disadvantages BUT if the face is to flat the thinner material will flex and bow once the wind hits it on the roads

1/16th is getting pretty thin. I would say stick with the aluminum.

Yeah...That's my concern and my preference at the moment but I figured I'd run it past you guys for your opinion.

Thanks for the extra $25 too! ;) I'll do my best to keep the price down but can't promise anything until I get more quotes. This stuff adds up quickly unfortunately...the hardware is a killer too. It's amazing how expensive this stuff can be at low quantities![mad] I'll keep you all posted as I get closer to making this happen.

IMO..SAFETY first! Make sure that it's strong enough that it wont fall apart when someones riding. Last thing that needs to go wrong is someone getting hurt because of materials being to thin. I don't know about you but I like my right leg right where it's at. LOL..:D

I agree, but keep in mind that steel that's half the thickness is stronger than the thicker aluminum...just saying;) I'm a safety freak when it comes to this stuff! [cool] Thanks!

Actual 3x as heavy and 3x as strong at the same thickness...1.5x at half the thickness etc...

Thanks RT!
