A paint scheme that can be scanned is genius, surprised companies & sponsors haven't done that yet. Bikes look great man and whats a game room w/ out bikes??

Thanks for the compliment. I'm thinking I'll either point the QR codes to different bike events I'll be going to or put a link from the mobile website to those events. Right now they are pointed to another thread on this site. If you want to see where, here's the QR code image plastered on the flyscreen.

The bar codes scan great. Sometimes a little to easy. The QR codes scan about 30% of the time on 2 iPhone apps I use. The key word with them seems to be "Flat". Flat being a flat surface and flat finish.

I'm still dealing with light glare and curved surface distortion getting in the way while scanning the images. That seems to be the reason the bike pictures on here are not scannable. I haven't clear coated the bike in case I find some more durable codes to use to compensate for curvature distortion. When I do clear coat, I think I may have to go for a matte finish to fight light glare.

But, that's fun of it figuring it all out. I'll keep you posted.

Damn man I love your bike and I scanned it on my iPhone and it worked great for me. Love your bike! Everything about it if I get an xb we would have some definitly be similar! O and I already have the s tail I. I need a need and tail light assembly for it but I want to get it mounted to my CR before I buy everything. Just to make sure it works.

Over the past few weeks. The time I've had to ride has been taken up by rain. So I've been doing a little identity changing on the bikes. I like to call it Project: Face Off

wow the lightning tail and cr front end look amazing together. I think I like it more than anything else. Nice work.

how did you get the front end so low on the white bike? slipped forks or did you swap out to scg stuff?

Thanks! [up]

The suspension on the bike with the CR headlight is an SCG and the forks are slipped to the retaining ring. The other bike has the standard R/S suspension. The forks are also slipped to the retaining ring on it.

It's interesting just how much the 2 suspensions change the height and appearance.

so basically you have scg forks that are slipped to the rings????triple tree as well? scg swing arm and shock too i take it???? sorry for all the idiotic questions. still new to lowering these bikes

The SCG forks were the same diameter as the R/S forks are. So there was no swapping of the triple trees.

The swing arms do not need to be switched out for the lowering. However, I do have a swing arm from an XB12SS. It is not lower, but 2" longer.

Just the SCG front and rear shocks should get you to the ride height my bike sits at.

i plan to extend my swing arm. going to custom build a a shock mount. i just cruise and i like the look. not doing nothing stupid long but enough to get the axle in line with end of the bike. you think the firebolt shocks can be slipped enough or are the scg shocks physcially shorter

I don't think the Firebolt shock could be slipped enough for 2 reasons.

1) If you're using a handlebars with risers such as on the lightning, the tops of the forks may hit the handlebars.
2) The forks are not the same diameter all the way down the tube. They are more of a coke bottle shape for lack of a better term. So you don't get to slip far before you're out of the clamp zone.

Look at the close up in this picture. The SCG shock is physically shorter in the travel zone of the lower.

so are you using different bars as well or just different forks.... i have an 07 not really sure what would work. did you buy all new parts or used?

ok i have a Buell 2004 xb12r and bought a danmoto carbon gp exhaust and a k&N air filter and plan on running the open airbox what do i need to do if the exhaust doesnt have a spot for the O2 sensor and do i need to get it remapped

With the changes you're talking about, you will probably need a remap. I would do it with a Race ECM and an ECMspy cable.

The o2 sensor is located on the pipe behind the rear cylinder with wires coming out of it. I'm not sure about the Dan Moto exhausts. But most of them replace the muffler assembly at the bottom leaving the header pipes intact.

Your new exhaust however probably will not have use of the exhaust servo. Located on top of the airbox to control the muffler. Most aftermarket exhausts, even the modified exhausts, don't use this feature.

The race ecm has a feature built in to keep it from looking for the exhaust servo and you can simply disconnect the servo or remove it completely. With regards to the o2 sensor, someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but there might be a switch in the software to turn it off as well.
