Firebolt Lowering Kit

There is a snap ring on the forks tat doesn't allow you to raise them. If you remove the ring to raise them it isnt safe....

I've done the cg front and rear swap and need just a little more. Can you regroove the fork for the snap ring, maybe half to three quarter inch lower??maybe I'm looking for a shorter than cg shock length. She is a mellow rider so high performance is not important.

After further reveiw the forks are not sliding up unless I change the bars. Its going to work it will just be a little here and a little there.nice place you have here.thanks

BPG you're a godsend.

Unsure if 03 & 04 xbr9 bikes need the triple clamp or if they don't. I'm proceeding with rear shock and kickstand this week. Will update all on ride height adjustment.

Left Fork - J0121.1AE

Right Fork - J0122.1AE

Rear Shock - K0410.1AE

Kickstand - L1167.1AE

Lower Triple Clamp - J0106.02A8C

I know everyone says it is a no no, but I just slipped the front frorks and used an Scg shock in the rear. I have close to 500 miles on it since I lowered it and the forks have yet to move at all.

I just check them before and after each ride just incase but no problems so far. I have the setting set up real soft to help there but still doing hard stops and wheelies with no problems.

I have a 2004 XB12S. I wanted to lower my Buell and I have been researching for quite some time. But I couldn't find any solution that sounded good (in price, specs, or info) enough to buy through the internet. Your solution costs more (provided that you do not want top shelf aftermarket products) but you will still have the original parts and you can go back any time you want.

Here is what I did.

I wrote down the part numbers, checked them several times to be sure, went to a Harley/Buell dealer in Glendale, California(south of Los Angeles), ordered the parts, waited for a week for them to arrive, picked them up, took them to my mechanic, and he swapped them in less than 4 hours.

I wasn't there to watch my mechanic performing the work but I'm sure it would have taken him less time if he was working on my Buell exclusively. He even gave me $25 back saying it was easier than he thought. My guess is that he felt guilty to charge me what he quoted ($375) me at the first place because the job was too easy. Now, I feel like I was ripped off. What do you think?

Anyway...

I didn't need the lower triple clamp because my Buell is a 2004 model.

LH Fork - J0121.1AE - $324.69
RH Fork - J0122.1AE - $324.69
Rear Shock - K0410.1AE - $272.69
Side stand - L1167.1AE - $ 67.75

Parts total ---------- $1086.34 (with sales tax)

I paid $350.00 for my mechanic. So, the grand total is $1436.34. I thought you guys could use some real numbers.

The perfect solution! Thanks, BPG!!! Keep up the good work! [up][smirk]

So the part number for that shock is an scg shock? Or is it a shock thy will make the scg a little bit lower?

The front forks (did not have o-rings for the top tripple clamp and had to use the ones from the original forks) and the rear shock assembly (comes complete with spring) are Scg parts.

If you read through the whole blog, you will find the part numbers for the forks, shocks, and side stands are same for all years and models.

This will not make an Scg lower which, already, is a lowerd model with shorter wheelbase (almost 2 inches) and number of defferent specs. Scg and Ss look almost identical but they are different bikes.

And about the pictures, the front forks look shorter and the distance from the rear side marker and the rear tire is closer in the lower after-picture. You, also, can see the blue (original) and yellow (new) springs below the seat.

Ok I was just wondering because on the first post it says 1/2 lower than the scg. But thanks for the info.

Looking to get a 08 XB12R but the bike sits too high for me. Can you tell me what parts I would need and how much labor is involved? Also would like different exhaust the stock exhaust is way too quiet. Don't want obnoxious but something that sounds throatty. Your help is greatly appreciated.

I am living in Rio de Janeiro, I have been trying to see if there are any information for the XB12X (Ulysses), but I couldn't find any, this model is extremely high so I need to do something with my bike. In this case could I only change the rear shock and then lower the fork in the top (I have seen warnings for it but it seems like someone also was able to do this without problems)?

BuellPartsGuy, can you help me locate parts for my bike? I'd like to lower it as well. I have a 2008 XB12STT model. Can I just swap out the rear shock or will that throw off the handling?

Thanks!!
