See, you know what I mean. It seems like LEOs are the most cautious because of all of the crap they've seen.
Bright headlights are a big plus. Those cheapo LED strips that I put on my bike actually helped a lot too. One of my next projects is to convert my blinkers to running lights.
The most important things to do, which I'm sure you know, is to always have an exit route and never ride next to a car. I'm in CA, and I take advantage of the fact that I can split. To me, that's the safest time to pass because a car isn't going to merge into another car. When I do pass or go through, I do it as fast as possible. It makes a ton of noise and limits the time the cager has to do something stupid.
But all of my dumb riding habits and excuses don't compare to just being visible. One thing you could do is have a vinyl cutter like Matter cut you some reflective flat black decals. They'll blend right in, then light up like a light when headlights hit them.
