GP shift in 5 minutes!

Buellxb Forum

Help Support Buellxb Forum:

I'm sure it helps to make sure you get a good shift, and it feels more natural to puch down and easier than to pull up. Maybe that's just me.

The reason racers do this is because it is difficult for them to fit their foot under the shifter at max lean as they upshift out of turns. If you need more muscle to upshift, you're doing it all wrong.

Im not saying you need more muscles or I have weak ones it just seems that common sense comes into play here, If you lack that there really isnt anything to help. using your entire leg to down shift VS isolating one muscle........

I did this mod cause I think its cool!
:D
it also makes BamBam a little more different then other bikes where I live..

did I mention I think it's cool
:D

thanks again Defender88 for something quick 'n easy (a monkey could do it!) and cool!
:)

A caveman could do it. by the way I just saved a bunch of money on my child support by switching the condoms

Mine has been like this for a few thousand miles. I highly recommend trying it out. Really helps when digging out of a corner.

i think the only gain would be keeping your foot on top of the shifter. no worries about a toe rub when into a serious lean.

if your really looking at upshifting faster in a corner, no better way than banging you toe on the ground when it's under the shifter :D

I have officially given life to this year old thread. :DJust wanted to know if anyone has done this. The pics won't show and was curious to see pics.[cool]:p

Extremly simple to do just flip the arm that is on the case 180* out. I didn't have washers. and the stock shift linkage is adjustable. Just adjust the length of the linkage to where the pedal sits where you want it.

I bought my bike this way and thought it was a factory buell setup. I couldn't get used to it. All my other bikes were standard.

Besides the "cool" factor or a stunter I'm not sure if I really see a point. Switching between bikes based on mood made shifting to confusing.

Wish this thread was here when I bought mine, had two harley shops say the previous owner must have put in a reversed shift drum and that I would have to put a stock shift drum back in which was hundreds of dollars. :[confused] Took me sitting down next to and looking at it not wanting to spend the money to get it back to stock.

Cool thanks for the pics. Now it makes since. I couldn't get the picture right in my head.

I'm super interested in doing this. Could anyone say that it has actually lasted quite some time? also im not certain where the washers go?

No washers needed, Just flip and adjust.

Im going on 18,650 miles with it like this.

Zero issues.

Went to go do this went to adjust my shifter linkage and the thing just snapped lol, Just ordered a new one for $50.50. I guess it was needed to be replaced anyways the threads are a little corroded. Just my luck, ill be off the bike for a few days :(

hahahaha Boo, I wasnt going to do the flip, i just wanted to adjust mine more comfy for me, and i couldnt get mine to move so i left it alone before i broke them.... sorry to hear the troubles brotha

I dont know how accurate this is so someone let me know if this guy was just blowing smoke up my a#$.. I had the GP style on my bike and took it to a local mechanic for some other work and he noted it. Apparently having the linkage at a sharp angle like the GP style is compared to a near 90 degree angle is bad. He said the not only can the linkage bend, but when you go to shift it doesnt open the ramp up completely like it does having it at 90 degrees. I did notice when I had the GP style that my shifts were rougher and I had a lot more miss shifts than with the normal setup.

Is that your exhaust in the bottom pic Drax.whats with the 3 exhaust bands. You didn't sell me yours off our bike did ya;)

Haha no. stole the pics from the other buell forum. That guy really didnt want that chopped mufller going anywhere! Ahh... one more just. in. case...

I don't believe the angle TACP some of my other bikes have some CRAZY linkage angles. Have an '01 f4i. google that shift linkage for some nice linkage angles.

Haha yeah it sucks that it happened today. It went from being a 103 with a heat index of a 113 yesterday to a cool 84 today. It was such a perfect day to ride... oh well i learned from my mistakes lol.
