Hawk Performance Mufflers!!!

So how loud or deep sounding is it? I'm considering either this or the Jardine. The noise of the Jardine doesn't bother me considering how many straight-pipe Harleys we have here on-base, but the Hawk muffler looks near-stock, and would have an easier time passing inspection, etc.

Keith: I can tell you that Randy (Hawk) purchased his bike with a Jardine on in. It was his inspiration to design a better pipe. He likened the sound to a 350 Chevy or Mustang with Flowmaster mufflers on it so I guess that means deep? And I got the impression that his are a bit quieter than the Jardine but not quiet either.

He's working on a pipe for me right now!

If I were you. I'd call him directly and discuss your concerns with him. He's a straight shooter and will tell you the truth whether it benefits him or not.

Good luck whatever you decide!!

I emailed him, and unfortunately he doesn't have any spares, so he can't cross-ship. I'd either have to wait until winter or try to buy someone's stock muffler.

I'll probably just wait and then go with the Hawk one when the time's right.

Here's a sneak peek at my Hawk Pipe! Keep in mind that this is a cell phone pic. Also...There's some black stuff on the polished tip (3 1/4" diameter :D ) that Randy put there to protect it during welding. It will come off.

Better pics and sound clips to come! I can't wait!![up][cool]

I don't know. It's in the mail to me right now, but from talking to Randy about his design, It's sort of an open design with "baffle walls" like Flowmaster does. No packing to replace or anything like that. If I can tell anything more when I get it, I'll let you know...

I just had a great conversation with Randy. He is going to do my muffler, send it to me, and not accept any payment till I have it installed and am happy with it. He also said he does the Cheese Grator mods for the cost of shipping.

Superman:

It is a great deal...Not sure if I mentioned it before or not but Randy includes ECMspy and Buell race maps with his pipes free of charge. You'll just have to get the cable.[up]

That would be cool!!![up]

I just installed the factory one that cost me $40, but it's not symmetrical. Works well though. Keep us posted on that!

where do you get the cable from?
You can get them on Ebay, through Xopti, or make your own. I added a few links on this thread about making one:

Spy Cable

does the ecm spy work on the 09's

I'm not sure about this one?? You'll have to do some research on that...[confused]

Thank you for the link to cable and i was wondering cause i have heard somewhere that the 08's didnt work with the ecmspy
thank you for the help 50dro

As far as I know it doesn't work on the 08 and 09. Randy told me they are working on a way to reprogram the 08 and 09 ECM but not ready yet.

My muffler is on its way to Randy today. Now all I can do is wait and hope I get it before it snows here. :):):):)

Awesome!!! Did you get an XB9 one??

Randy turned mine around in just over 24 hours!! Can't beat that!![up]

Are you having him do anything custom or just the standard dual outlet?

Its from an XB9. Just the standard dual outlet. I like that and it goes with the blacked out look of my bike.

I'll be sending my cheese grator to him when the season ends to get done s well.

Well...The muffler arrived today. Darn thing got damaged in shipping!!![mad] Not Randy's fault though...

So...I may need to pick up another stock pipe to have him mod??

Anyone have one laying around that they'd be willing to sell? I prefer a 9 pipe, but would consider a 12.
