Hawk Performance Mufflers!!!

Buellxb Forum

Help Support Buellxb Forum:

BT, run it out on the highway for 20 minute above 3 to 3.5K R's. That should get the ECM dialed in before the dyno run.

Does anyone know what bike was used for the dyno runs on Randy's website? Im guess it must be a 9. Are the three lines for hp and torque from 3 different runs/bikes/mods?

I'm a little surprised at those results.
I thought the hawk pipe would have added a little more power with a slogan like
"With my modifications to a stock Buell XB Muffler it will sound and perform better than a Buell Pro Race Muffler. Don’t spend hundreds more for the same performance I can provide."
I guess I'm more surprised that he put it on his website. The ASB site has the Race can putting out 103hp from a xb 12. I guess i should keep in mind that they were tunned and fishgutz's bike was not.
No offense fishgutz.
btw i currently have a hawk pipe on my xb9.
(just in case people thought i was bashing)

Every dyno is different. Plus it is physically impossible for a bike to lose only 1hp from crank to wheel.
If memory serves, there was a note that the set up used in the ASB runs had some offset due to the set up of the dyno.
My butt dyno says it is an improvement over stock. I have a friend who has a bone stock XB12R. I'll see if he will meet me down at HD on a Dyno Saturday. That way we can see stock versus mod.

just got my muffler back from randy. i will post pics once i get it mounted up and videos comparing sound. just need this wyoming snow to stop so i can get it going!!! [mad]

If you read the notes on the ASB test, they admit the dyno they were on was "friendly" due to some software mismatch with the rotating drum as I recall?

So without fine-tuning and that possible margin of error, his (Hawks) dyno seems pretty good considering the money you pay.

how come no one ever does a baseline dyno run. without a comparison it doesnt say much. relative values mean a lot but the absolute numbers might not be accurate at all.

In my case, I sent my exhaust out in February. It was a snowy Winter by NC standards and I could not get to the shop before I sent it out. I wish I had.
Next best thing is to hit the shop with a friend that has a bone stock XB. Same day, same dyno, same calibration. That should be pretty close.
I'll post the results as soon as I get them.
