Headlight Mod for Firebolt gone awry

Awesome feedback everyone, to respond:

Are you trying to do this with the engine off? You only get the high beam that way, engine running gets you both.

It's definitely while the engine is running (and driving - I've checked it in the reflection of the cars in front of me). Both lights are very different and very independent. Both lights do not come on together unless I have the switch sitting in the half way position.

have you thought about adding a spoon to your high beam to make it a second low beam?

No idea what a spoon is but you have my attention! Can you elaborate?

Sirius: I was actually wanting the low beam on with the high beam. Low beam can stay as low beam by itself. As it is, I get one light or the other, not both.

snrusnak: thanks for having my six! [up]

Don't suppose anyone would have a picture of what the headlight harness is SUPPOSED to look like? The service manual is kicking my butt!!!!

Thanks again!!!!

Sweet! Thank you very much for the pics! I just want both lights on when the high beams are on and for some reason, mine do not do that.

I just need to find out why the orange wire has been spliced to a yellow wire. There is no blue wire at all in my harness.

I'll take this information and tackle it again next weekend and then I'll post my findings!

this is a disassembled headlight housing. the only difference between high and low beams is this spoon that is screwed to the front.

I have an extra one if you would like to try and put that in your high beam housing.

This discussion always confuses me, not your fault Seajay.

The manual says they're all set up to run both lights when high is on. From the number of times this comes up, it's obviously not the case.

Canada/Europe have different harnesses in the parts manual. They're set up the way you want. Easiest thing is to switch to the non-US set-up.

Yes, Clarson, I am very much interested in trying that for my set up! The pics are awesome! I am feeling hopeful once again! PM me whatever details you need from me!

first. you will have to take apart your low beam housing, and go buy a screw that matches that one, since i couldn't find mine. then in your high beam housing there should be a tab. it is on the top side of the housing in my second picture. the pin on the tab goes in the top hole on the spoon and the screw will go in the middle hole on the spoon.
