Hidden Licence plates?

I have accurate knowledge concerning the redflex systems cameras. the system works by not only taking several stills of the infraction rear of the vehicle, driver's face shot, overall of the scene, but also 3 seconds prior to and following the infraction. this is why the plate covers that just obscure the numbers don't work, and the ones that over expose the shot don't because of the non-flash video. as far as an LCD cover that went completely black or opaque that may work, or the flash may be bright enough to get a reflection off the covered plate. A flip plate, I think would be the best answer. But don't get caught by a live officer, as they wouldn't take to kindly to covering/hiding the registration information from public view.

I doubt the Mythbuster's integrity sometimes. They tried all the solutions that don't work, and the one that did was so ludicrous, nobody would even try it.

The mythbusters probably don't show things that is publicly avaliable that would work, as not to have a band of copy cats telling the police that they saw it on TV...

The LCD plate is by far the easiest way to display your plate, when you want to...

This whole idea has occured to me before, but for my car. Not necessarily for red lights, but if you were to do something unlawful and worried about someone reporting it... i had an idea (kinda james bond-ish) to have your regular plate on the car. then have another plate (fake) on a piece of metal with a servo controlled from the cabin, whereby it'd slide in front of the real one, whenever you pressed a button/switch whatever.. course that was mere speculation, and as some may have said *novelty purposes*. anywho, yeah it's crossed my mind at times, but never explored that idea in reality.

In some of the tuner car mags,in the back, they sell a spray that you apply to the plate, supposedly when the pic is taken of your plate the spray creates a very high gloss that makes your plate unreadable, but them ophawk said something about a non-flash camera,I have heard about this spray though, supposta work well.

Just buy a midget to hang on the back and physically block the plate with his head, problem solved. :p

Ah adaptations of the combat midget. I would think someone could make the LCD thing faster. Think of those auto welding helmets that darken as soon as the light hits. Now with the camera taking video before it wouldn't work, that part I didn't know about. How does it know when to run the video? Or is it always running and is only recorded and used if the camera goes off?

The video is always running, just saves it when the sensors are triggered. You have to love digital video files. A very close friend is high up in the company, she is one of the Corporate officers that testify, when someone fights it in court. At each approach, the sensor loops in the street at fixed locations, sense the speed, or red light infraction, then that whole file is uploaded to the HQ, where an operator, reviews the stills and video, to ensure that faces are clear, vehicle description and registration match, if all is correct, the file is sent to the municipality that has jurisdiction, and the ticket is written and sent from them.

A midget would probably cheaper, just have to strap him down real good.

Back when I raced cars, I would rig my plate with a solenoid that would fold it down at the touch of a button - the same could work for a bike. All you would need to do is mount the plate on a hinge, attach a solenoid and a two-position switch and wire it all to the battery.

Back in the day when street racing was a big thing, the Highway Patrol used to go out in undercover cars with video cameras, roll tape of everyone's license plates, and send "warning tickets" in the mail. It basically said, "We saw your vehicle involved in illegal activities. If we see your vehicle again, you get the ticket. Period."

dave_xb12r got one of these... The suck thing is all the chp had to do was wait for a train of cars to drive by and every license plate was captured, weather you were truly involved or not...

Something like this?
license plate cover

This is PERFECT! I don't know why I didn't see this before. Now, to work on the price. Seems expensive for what it really is.
