What would you say was the main (or combination of) motivating factors in choosing your Buell model versus the other ones? How did you choose between the Firebolt, Ulysses, and Lightning (edit: add the 1125)? Was it:
a. Function
b. Style/cool factor
c. Most able to upgrade/add-on
d. Too good a deal to pass up (even if it wasn't the model you wanted)
e. Inherited from great grandpa so I didn't care
f. Spontaneous purchase
g. It had lower miles than another model I wanted
h. Model wasn't a factor in my choice; I just wanted a Buell!
i. I didn't give it that much thought
j. I didn't get the model I wanted
k. I didn't know about the other models at the time

And did you pay:
l. too much
m. average price for the miles/condition
n. excellent deal

And as for 9 vs 12, how did you choose?
o. chose the 9 because it was less expensive
p. chose the 12 because of more power
q. other?

I've just started wondering this. I choose the XB12R because it fits my personality. It sounds like a mean Harley, looks like a sportbike, and the color combo, low miles and price sealed the deal. I also needed a reliable motorcycle (my current bikes are quite old), and I had been praying about it (seriously). So for me it's b/n/p.

Add your own categories if you want.

Mine was a spontaious purchase so I overpayed just a lil. It was My best freinds bike and he was in a bind so I bought it to help him out. My bike was a "R" and I felt it fit my personality to t T, but My body said otherwise and my inability to not mod it kicked in. Now shes a "R" dressed as a "S" with CR Clubman bars. Ive yet to ride her anywhere that a backpack wasnt adequit for what lil i needed to carry.

Tested them all...
Went with the scg, thought that it was the better handling bike. The lightning also looks rides and sounds like what a new sportster should have been.
Now don't get me wrong I have owned more "R" then I care to mention. There just not as fun.

Suspension, looks, suspension... Lol! I really like how they handle, how they sound, and the fact that an "arcane" engine in a modern chassis is just a ton of fun!

I paid a lot for my previous Buell, and not so much for my current one.

I chose the XB12Ss (long) because i'm 6"1 , 250 lbs and the seating position and handlebar reach were/are extremely comfy for me. My first Buell I bought in 06 was bought because it reminded me of a motorcycle version of a bmx bike I had as a kid.

I was big into Mongoose bikes in the late 70s and early 80s then discovered VWs and girls.

It was a trade and when i went to ride it i fell in love. Never looked back since. Now i want more...

Whatever was available near me at the time. But i liked the firebolt look more and a 1203cc engine seemed much more enticing.

My R was for Sale for years! I watched her for long time in Internet...finally i decided to go take a look and she was like new with just 1500 km!! Seller told me that I am the first who s interested and came to see the Buell.
I offered 6 grand and he took the money.... so I am the proud owner from one of the two imported 2007 XB12Rs to Costa Rica...
befor I had no Idee about the Buells...but now, I love it and I never would change for other Bike...if you see a yellow Buell in Costa Rica...its me! because there is no otherone...
:D

I still dont have a Newer buell.. But i have always wanted an XB12S or SCG..... Simply because i personally like the S front and S tail better..... I like the SCG since it has a lower stance.... But i ended up with a Tuber instead, Because.... it was local, it was mint, the X1 was the first Buell i ever saw and fell in love with, it was low mileage, and the price was right....

So i combined the X1 and the XB and built my bike- I still never get tired of staring at it.... LOL

That tuber gives me such a chubby. Buell would still be in business if that shit was sold from the factory. I bought my xb12r in a bit of a rush but got a good deal on it. Some day down the road a S front end will probably be there to match the S tail.

Impulse buy for me, low miles fair price 08 xb12r by a dealer $5500 all stock. Walked in one day just to waste time, saw it loved it picked it up the next day.

pur _pony...she's awesome looking[up][up][up]

Had a choice between a Duc Monster and the Buell, but I had been looking at the Buell while deployed in Kuwait/Iraq...loaded the family up in the Mazda mini van, had two stops to look at the before mentioned bikes, well, too make a long story short, a two mile ride, a grin from ear to ear, and $5500 bucks later, the Duc never had a chance:D she's an '03 XB9SL which had 2500 miles, bought it the summer of '06, the color had a lot to do with it also, yellow and black, just reminded me of my old Tonka dump truck:D:D:D

For me I'd like to say mine chose me, I was in the market for a new-to-me motorcycle and decided to browse cycle trader for an affordable sporty bike but it had to be a "naked" and it couldn't be an inline 4. One of the first matches that showed up was a 99 M2 with 17,XXX and was only a hundred miles from me. I did some research on it then contacted the dealership and went to see it the next day. It immediately stood out from everything on the showroom floor and after a decent warm up (since it was 30 degrees) I test rode it. I was absolutely amazed by everything about it, the torque was strong, suspension was just right, comfort was great, and the price was right. I got her for about $2600 and I know I'll be riding her for a long time to come.

After riding the cyclone for 2 years and having wear a backpack to take nething with me and not having ne room for a passenger i started looking for a lightning long and realized a ULY would be better for what i wanted and much cheaper... mine was a demonstration bike @ a harley dealer.
