with synthetics you will get a little more valvetrain noise regardless of brand which is probably what your hearing also check your primary chain adjustment just to be sure

After doing some more research it seems that mobil1 for motorcycles seems to be pretty good compared to the rest. I am considering it because I get it for 7.85 a quart I just hope its a good thing. My father is rolling over in his grave right now!!! what are the average mileage intervals for an oil change? My daily commute to work is 2 miles

I went all season with mobil 1 which was approx 9-10k as a daily driver it's 10$ a qt here and not being employed last yr I stretched it but normally would have changed it at 5k miles

yes I do change both @5k it's just another qt as the primary takes 1 qt so might as well lol

About to take my bike in for the 1000mi service and will go to synth oil, but just wondering about a noise I've noticed more often recently. When cruising, it sounds like a sewing machine, like the valves on my old Buick GS. Just wondering if anyone else has this noise, and if so, if the synth seems to mellow it out?

I notice that noise too. I have noticed that in all harley engines ive owned when running full syn oil

i am an ASE master auto mechanic i use to swear by royal purple.
But after seeing several differential's in lifted trucks get torn up and them recommending 10-30 in my buell trans which made it shift like complete crap and grind.
I been running mobile one v-twin from auto zone.with a few oz's of lucas oil stabilizer in both holes.
I do the trans every other oil change and oil changes every 3-4k in miles.
My valvetrain has clattered since i bought the bike put 14k on it this summer still sounds the same

yea, that slide show made me buy mobil 1 today. 7.80 a quart and placed 2nd. I think I am going to use some lucas oil stabilizer also. how many ounces where you using per hole?
