I really want one

I actually think "pm" is ******* with us.. the RC51 weighs in at quite a bit more than any XB (if memory serves) you can trim a XB down to nothing if you want to spend the money, a race battery and Buell XB magnesium wheels would save you like 19 lbs alone not counting the weight you save with aftermarket mufflers... and we only carry few gallons of gasoline at a time.. I usually only carry 1.5 gallons and it lasts me 2-3 days of just running around town.

the "clunkiness" hes talking about I have seen only when I pick up a second hand XB, usually the last owner has the wrong kind of oil in the primary, totally ****** up external shift linkage, screwed up primary drive chain tension.. stuff like that. You can get a XB to as slick as say, a Ducati SS.. its not that bad, just not " Suzuki slick"

The right side of a XB casts off some heat, you don't want to wear shorts haha but as long as you at least have jeans on, its not that bad, even in the summer.
Race ECM is a hotter fuel map, I run one on my R model.. you pick up a couple of horses and better acceleration. Most guys just re-map the stock ecm though.. about the same thing. Good thing about the race ecm is that its just plug and play..

XB12R is......okay. Clunky. Heavy. Throttle sensitive. Hot.

Other than Hot, this statement is completely ass backwards

Also I'm 99% sure the stock xb wheels are magnesium.

Hmmm, perhaps you're thinking of the Buell sales materials back in the day that claimed the ZTL brakes allowed the front unsprung weight to be as light as if there was a magnesium wheel fitted ...(?).

yeah I think he is, bc that claim would be true.. or at least it was true at the time that it was claimed. I remember that the magnesium Buell front wheel saved right at 5 lbs less than stock.. that's real good.. that's all unsprung weight

nisfro98, watch my Buell XB9SX review video that I made first.. from what you are looking for I think you would be better served with a S or SX model ... either 9 or 12 , your choice but like I said in my video, if I had it to over again I think I would have got the SX in 12.. right now I ride my 9SX more than I ride my 12R because is real handy in town.. I just miss that 1203cc low-end grunt sometimes.. If I were to get a 9, it would definitely be a S or a SX, a 9R just would not be the right combo for me..in 9 I would want those high bars and low pegs and the lighter chassis.

I can't think of a bike I would enjoy around town more than my 9SX. I'm intrigued by the 12 but I'm not yearning for it in any way. The 9 does everything I need it to and keeps me more than happy on a daily basis.

yeah it DOES, I love mine too.. I just would like to see what it would be like with the motor out of my12R in it..I think that would be cool too.. 9 kind of has a "cool of its own" though doesn't it?

When I got on her hard my 03 xb9r, with mods, would pull the front up a few inches shifting from third to fourth. I doubt power will be a concern for you. I kept Mobil 1 in mine and yes the transmission was clunky. Not ridiculously so but you had to shift like you mean it. No pussyfooting in an xb or youll find yourself floating in false neutral. And as for the heat it really wasnt that bad at all. Keep in mind I live out in the bfe and hardly ever get into stop and go traffic but the extra heat was actually nice once the weather started getting cooler though. Damn I loved that bike. I swear by baby Jesus I will own another xb one day.

from what Ive found, that primary likes nothing but FULL SYNTHETIC like Royal Purple or Amsoil.. nothing else gave a really good feel in that gearbox. and the ball joints on the linkage have to be replaced every now and then. they are cheap to replace though...

Those would be "heim joints" not "ball joint" and ive never heard of them needing replacement due to wear.

They see me trollin!

'Busa gots two of em on each end!:)

when I went down on my R , I busted my linkage, When I put new linkage on there, it was a night and day difference.. went from rough to slick as hell.. So I did the same thing on my 9SX,, same result.

I was told they are magnesium. When I had them powder coated, they weigh almost nothing. I can lift them with my pinky finger.

I currently have a 12S and I love it. People always talk about how small it looks and blah blah but because of its size it makes a thrill to ride that's for sure. The sound of it is pure amazing in my opion and in many others opion.
My buddy had a 1125R for a few weeks and I got a chance to saddle it up once and it scared the living **** out of me that's for sure. The XB have the low end torque that's fun but that 1125 has peer speed behind it and it's wicked.
From your stand point of not wanting a 600 because of to much bike a 1125 would be way to much for you then. Also personal opion here the 1125 have the rotax engines and they are pretty temperamental might I add

The 1125 is just too "track-bred" for my tastes. Every time I run into a guy that has a hardcore track-bred bike, he loves it but is constantly dumping money into it at the same time. Changing oil every 400 miles, eating up tires, plugs, valve adjustments , things failing... the just don't seem to be good daily riders. A lot of those I4 guys out there don't seem to be able to stay on top of the maintenance either.

XB on the other hand was bred for street use.. they like living down low in that 0-100mph range every day... and all of our sensors and stuff are tougher and cheaper bc they came out of Mustangs and Chevys. A XB can be a streetfighter, sportbike and daily rider all at the same time.. Harley type motors are about the toughest street motors out there.. a lot of power for the mpg too..

snrusnak.. I was looking more into those magnesium wheels, seems they don't make good street wheels. They are said to be a bit brittle for the street and wouldn't last that long..."race only" stuff.

Yup, I recal a Duc with Marchesini mags at the track years ago came back into paddock with a spoke from its front wheel missing!

That's unsprung though.. its like losing 5lbs off the sprung weight.. suspension, brakes, everything now works better... I agree though, It would only be a good "finishing touch" for race use.
