I am also one who agrees that companies are responsible for their designs, whether they develop it or outsource it. The end product is theirs. I'm sure Rotax or whoever else engineered that stator or the design that causes the stator problem had 'plenty of research and data' that 'proved' that issue was a small scale issue not worth adressing or they took it to market too fast without doing neccessary research and didnt realize there was an issue that would materialize to this level.
I think a large part of the problem is that because of HD's decision to dissolve Buell, legally there's not much he can do on a large scale basis to handle these issues. In fact, I'd bet the farm that HD's attorneys pretty much showed him the door and he was no longer legally able to offer the neccessary support to the Buell brand, which HD owned. That's part of being shut down by the company that owns you.
Further, even if he wanted to, he probably doesn't have the resources to do it on his own. Hence why he's selling $10k motorcycles for $45k!
We hear ya brotha! It sucks, no doubt!!
