Erik Buell is still a shiester..
This is just not true, Erik was rushed into bringing the 1125 to production by Harley, he always wanted to build the 1190. As such he probably got certain parts that didn't get tested as he would have liked. If HD did not axe Buell those problems would have been remedied.

Frustration talk. Thats all.

I do apologize if it came off as an attack. It was not meant to be - I was trying to understand where he was coming from and thought it might be an age issue. It is typically the younger and/or less mature that vent frustration at the incorrect party or use... well... things that would get you slapped by your mother, for example.

netty2424 - I doubt the "affordable" 1190 will have the same weight, or even half the same parts, as the 1190RS. Not the same bike, not the same price. A Repsol stickered Honda is NOT the same as a real Repsol race bike. The 1190RS *is* a race bike.

Bottom line, the 09 charging system is junk there is no sure fix that I can find on this site or any other site to this day for any price. That is the fact of the matter.I wasted my money on a product I believed in.I wish I had not bought this bike..And that punch in the face stator fix pic is pretty funny..

with a plate mount, signals, converter ? your not going to be able to buy an i4 factory race bike for 40k or mays race bike.

That was my initial thought before I read your post Anrkizm. Lotus, I agree there's quite a bit in the 1190RS, I myself couldn't or wouldn't justify the $40k sticker. Thats just me though. Some others might see the value there, it's just pricey for me.

I say burn the mother fu©ker to the ground. No pics no video it didn't happen. Stop all the $h¡+ talking and do like you said and toast the piece of $h¡+.

I think someone is missing there signature so I've inserted it below so you or moderates can copy and paste where appropriate.

I really think scenarios like this are a trade off of sorts. I have had the same charging issues with my CR but had it "fixed" under warranty. I realize that it could happen again but I will never sell my Buell and will most likely add more to the stable in the future. I am willing to put up with this issue due to numerous factors. What Erik has done in the motorcycling world is amazing and is a piece of history. And I want to own a piece of that history. There aren't many bikes, cars, trucks or whatever that don't have any problems at all.

I think the personal threats and attacks on Erik Buell are completely unfounded. If BMC were still in business I am completely positive that these issues would have been fixed. However, right now, he CANNOT do anything hat relates to HD or BMC. I think it is pretty standup of him to even offer the 08 stator as a fix through EBR.

Good luck and hopefully you don't have kids. I would hate to see your reaction to some of the things they are capable of.

He's just taking out his frustrations online, I got pretty petulant when I was young but then we didn't have forums to rant on. I know Erik feels bad for the stator but like you said can't do shit about it and HD doesn't give a shit and hopes people blame Buell and not them. Pretty stupid of them but cheaper to blow us off than try and make a fix for it.

do not replace your stator remove it and have it rewound using a higher gage wire and insullation and u also need to change the regulator im using the mossfet one and ive had no problems the cost was roughly £200 and simple to fit

Im pointing my finger at the company thats name is on the side of my bike,,the company that approved the design and sold the bike under their name and tried to profit..This is not a new problem and even when buell was still in buisness they didnt do much to help so the cost of this fix wouldnt be an arm and a leg...but i do see that eric is still makeing and selling bike, just under a new company name...pretty cruddy if you ask me

Hey, I was thinking, if you are planning on using it for a bonfire.. I would gladly deliver you a few cords of wood if you wanna trade straight up?!

;)

Well....

In my experience, I had the stator rewound at Rick's in California. At idle its at 14.3 or so and as soon as the fans kick in it can get as low as 12.9 at idle. As soon as I get up on rpm, it starts charging the way it should. I have taken it to a trackday and never had a problem. I have been on the highways as a commuter bike and as long as I am over 4000rpm its always charging well.

I dont know, there are plenty of bikes out there that will have problems of some sort. But if you are willing to have a little patience with them and mess with them, you might enjoy them.

Even Hondas that are supposed to be bulletproof had at times issues mechanically or electrically. My old VFR was an R/R eater until I got the fix for it.

I just pretend its like a Ferrari and I gotta spend $1000 to adjust the valves.:)
