icon/arai/shoei/ugv/bandit

very importantfor me:
safety, not to heavy, airflow/vents

price around €300 to €400 or $410 to $683

I just got a new Icon Helmet and it seems pretty good. Once the weather warms up ill get a better opinion of it.

Take a look at the new Arai RX-Q. The helmet was just announced in December, and goes on sale this week I believe. It would be my first choice if I was to buy another helmet. I actually just bought a Arai Corsair V in October, and I absolutely love it. The RX-Q, which has all of your important requirements and is in your price range, is basically a Corsair V built for the street. Just my two cents. :)

a word of caution on ICON helmets. This is not from personal experience, but I was considering one of them myself about a year ago (cyclegear had them on sale) when the guy in cyclegear said not to use them on a sport bike because when leaning forward (typical sport bike riding position) when you look back to check your blindspot, the visor can blow open. I had this happen with my HJC CL-MAX and let me tell you it ain't no fun!

over in Europe... I would consider an AGV or an OSBE.. Shop around and see if any dealers near you have any Buell GP Tech helmets (if you're lucking you can find those for less than €400) They are the exact same Racing helmet as the AGV GP Tech helmet (usually selling for €500+) with the Buell name on them.

I have the HJC IS-16, It was cheap, and I LOVE it. It has a sunvisor built in that sits behind the regular visor.
Check it out:

Scorpion, great fit and finish not to mention you can get some great deals, otherwise HJC does make some great helmets for cheap as well.

"The one that fits the best."

I couldn't agree more. I was dead set on getting an Aria cuz they 'are the best on the planet' but fit like crap. I have a narrow head and several of the big expensive brands gave me pressure points in my forehead. I setteled on a $150 Scorpion and it fits me perfect.

i have the Icon airframe and i love it!!! even in the ick of florida humidity. the ram air is great and not too loud. looks great too i have gotten A LOT of compliments.

of the ones u listed, id go for a shoei.. rf1100... its gotten good reviews, and has one of the best airflows without being overly noisey

with RE to the scorpions.. my exo400 is SO noisey i cant stand it... but it DOES have a bronze visor no one else makes... so i love it too.. grumble grumble. turn my head right and it whistles SO loud, turn it left and the general wind noise seems to double.
ugh

i like a lot of the icon helmet styles
the rubatone paint is nice, its a flat rubbery feel, im not a GLOSSY fan really
the liners also feel the comfiest to me

but id go for what fits best... or... the top 3 best fitting.. and then narrow it down by wind noise and venting ability and style after the fitting

i have to admit the flat black ones do look nice but its like putting your head in the oven in the summer!!!

the guy in cyclegear said not to use them on a sport bike because when leaning forward (typical sport bike riding position) when you look back to check your blindspot, the visor can blow open.
He lied, had mine 2 yrs and it "clicks" and holds as good as new. I have the rubitone finish (below) and love it - great fit and awesome airflow. Have yet to ride with my newly acquired Buell helmet though. [sad]

I use a Bell Apex in flat black. It's great. Cyclegear.com are selling them for 99 bucks right now and if you are military you will get an extra 10-12% off that. I have used it now in 90-100 degree's with 90% humidity and I've used it in mid to high 20's and it's been awesome. Only time the visor foggs was sitting at a light in the cold but as soon as i either flipped it up a notch or started riding it cleared right up. It's a snug fit but so soft at the same time.

Have you checked out any of the AKUMA helmets? They have some pretty nice helmets. They have a carbon fibre one. its called the phantom or something like that, but it comes with a transitions(light sensitive)visor. its in the $400 range. I plan on getting one here soon.

I've had the Akuma Wolverine since last riding season. I have a XXXL, and it still doesn't fit right. XXL in Shoei fits me great...but not the Akuma. Decent helmet..saved my dome in an accident..and it's the only helmet with a rechargeable battery system built in. The reason why I got it was because of the promised tint on demand visor..which still hasn't seen the light of day.

The lights in the back are cool at night..and the map light LED in front has come in handy once or twice.
