Searched all frigging weekend with no luck finding any info on deleting the keyed ignition switch and replacing it with a toggle switch. Since it's on my dedicated race bike I don't need the parking light or accessory functions, only ignition.

Anyone ever do this or have a link?

Link for what?
The key switch is just that… a switch.
The key switch plug will have a B+. Put that on one terminal of a 20a SPST switch, and everything else on the plug, on the other terminal of the switch.

Or just leave the key in it…….

Not sure this fits the bill for your track bike, but i though it was a damn cool feature to go key-less. Again, a little on the steep side for a track bike.

Go buy a waterproof toggle, send me a pm and I'll walk you through it.

My bike had one for a while after I got it back.

it's just a simple 4 wire mod after you find a place for the switch.

I really think a toggle would be much easier to accidentally click off, no matter where it's mounted= bad day on the track.

Why not just zip tie the key in and leave it? The safety seems worth the couple of grams your saving. Otherwise I have no idea why you would do it. Is it a cool "track guy" thing to do?

It would be pretty cool to put the toggle where the ignition is. Maybe you could somehow turn the kill switch into an ignition switch?

wire the kill wires together and the method for a toggle switch to the actual kill switch would work. The kill switch is easy to change position though.

ya but the kill switch is there anyway, so he'd be no more likely to shut the bike off on the track than before. right?

I didn't think it was important info when I originally posted but I guess I was wrong, so here

I installed a Brembo front mc on my 9R and everyone knows it contacts the instrument cluster before full left lock. I had Kevin send me some brackets to move the fairing stay forward but then I had clearance issues with the bottom of the ignition switch housing contacting the brackets at about 10 deg of steering input.

Since I've hated needing a key at the track (yes I have it zip-tied) the easiest and simplest solution is to remove the ignition switch and replace it with a 20A SP (on/off) toggle. I will not be bypassing the stock kill switch or the start switch on the right controls.

Colby I'll hit you up for wiring directions, Thx
