I'd suggest either Robar or CCR. I haven't had to refinish a gun yet but I've heard several great reviews about both Robar's NP3 finish and CCR's Cerahide finish.

Both finishes incorporate Teflon into them so they are somewhat self lubricating. I've also heard of people polishing (if your into the bling) the finishes as they have nickel in them.

I'll have to dig out some pics of my guns.

Man, all these pictures of guns are making me miss mine.....unfortunately they all disappeared in a mysterious boating accident.

It's a shame I won't be able to protect my family when the zombies come.....you know.....because I don't have any guns.

Nice pics guys. Dig the hardware. Make sure you've got the software to match.
:D

...and Kalifornia, watch out! I think that BB gun carries HEAVY penalties in CA. (*shakes head) I can't wait till that Supreme Court ruling overturning the D.C. gun ban snowballs to the rest of the US. Because this is America. Seems they are stomping on the bill of rights recently. Truly a sad day in America.

I know there will be some haters, but I just picked up my first gun, is a Hi-Point 9mm Compact, and I love it, very first time shooting in over 10 years and it was addicting as hell. I got a question for you guys though. I am going to pick up one of the .45ACP's and it has a "compensator" rail, and I want it as my main home security weapon and would like to mount a laser/strobe/light combo on it, but they are all made for weaver/picatinny style rails, and I was wondering if anyone has heard of a compensator to picatinny rail adapter? Anyways here she is.

These are my toys. A Sig Sauer P230 .380 and a S&W 642 Airweight .38. The Sig was my duty gun for years when I was with the Prosecutor's Office, and the S&W was always on my ankle. Still is with me quite regularly for that matter. People used to bust my ass cuz I carried a .380. Then they saw me qualify. Accuracy beats grain weight any day. :D

No pictures, but I had to gloat a bit. for any of your military folk. I shot a 40 qualification. . .from the standing unsupported. I ran it 3 times shot 36, then cough cough. . . 24. Then got my shit together and shot a 40. Wasn't my weapon either i was pulling medic coverage for the range and felt like embarrassing some infantry men. I took some left handed Lt's m4 and ran clinic :0 )

I have a few more, but they have some meaning to me and I have already stored them in a safe place while our house is being built. I will try to post some more pics later.

A buddy of mine is going to build me an AR. I havnt sat down with him to talk about specifics yet but he is going to put together a few diff. types. ( He was an ARMY Ranger Sniper and works at a local gun shop)

Im looking for something to shoot at 100-200 yds which I can pop the scope off and shoot it inside of that if i want.

Thinking about the quad rail, a bipod, most likely the 20in barrel, a scope, and some iron sights.

Any buddy have recommendations on what to get or not to get?
Thanks in advance for the help!!

My advice, start buying ammo now. You can never have enough.
Good point, 223 has been scarce and expensive. I've got 15,000 rounds and I wish I had more.

As far as recommendations go, if you go Colt you can't go wrong. I have a type 7 FFL and whenever I can buy a Colt I can be assured to make money down the road. Now as far as building a new weapon, Rock River Arms is good, Wilson Combat is great but hard to find, DPMS is good, Stag Arms good too. I've even owned and built with Bushmaster with good results but it needed more cleaning sooner than I'd like.

I just picked up a Savage model 10 precision carbine today. Chambered in .308. I havent bought any optics yet.
