I can't decide between the X or the XT. I need the luggage since this bike will be touring focused, but I have heard the XT has a much lower seat height and this could be a problem since I have ridden sportbikes for years and I'm definitly not interested in having cramped leg room any more. If i don't buy the buell then I will buy a GS1200 beemer. Anybody have an opinions comparing the two bikes also???

I've got a 2009 XT. I've also got an R6 track bike. The XT is WAY roomier than any sport bike. I've riden my friend's GS1150 Beemer and the XT is roomier than that. If touring on roads is what you are looking for, I'd at least try out the XT. I'm 5'11" with a 33 inch inseem.

The X has 1" or so higher suspension for more travel off highway, but the sitting position is exactly the same on both bikes, you can put the luggage on either bike, the XT is stock with it and X you have to add it. I love my 08 XT, I'm 5'10, 200lbs

I have ridden both, and own a 2006 xb12x.

The buell feels more sporty, tips into turns better, accelerates better, brakes better than the gs.

Both shake at idle, but the buell probably shakes more.

Both are TALL, (really tall) but manageable (5'9 32" inseam).

I would say the gs is more comfortable for LONG days, but I still choose the buell.

I'd get the BMW over the Uly ONLY if I was riding through BFE or if I wanted to do long days of straight roads.

Also be aware that the GS can make your shins HOT... air cooling means hot air on your feet/shins.

Both are good bikes. I prefer the buell because my favorite part of motorcycling is riding twisty roads and forest service roads.

I never owned a GS , But I did own a R1100rt . I never had any troulbe with heat on my shins. But it was very top heavy bike. did not like to turn in or stay planted, also very unstayble on the Hiway , when I was behind a truck. just never like that bike.

did not ride one yet , But did sit on one . I do like it..
