No HOA in my neighborhood. Never a complaint about my Hawk. The across the street only laughed that he knows when I am leaving a coming home. :D
My wife and I would never consider a neighborhood with an HOA unless the HOA was purely focused on minimal common area grounds keeping. No HOA that tells me what I can or can not do on my property will ever be graced with my presence.
What gives anyone the right to tell me I can't run air tools? Permission to run power tools?
Sorry but in the grand scheme of things, restrictive HOAs tank home values for anyone that loves freedom. I suspect that most people living in HOAs that mandate cook cutter sameness are registered Democrats. After all they love, more than any other group, to tell people what cars to drive, what food to eat, and how much water they flush every time they ****.

These stories are extremely entertaining. I too like some of you am by far the loudest person in my neighborhood. Between my bike, my personal vehicle (Dodge Durango) with glass pack exhaust and 2 very loud 12's in the back, and also my surround sound system inside the house that you can easily hear outside the house. So some of my neighbors can appreciate me and some of them hate me. To each his own I say.

Personally I do my best to not be a squid and piss people off- I think that if you do, you only serve to feed the public bias against motorcyclists, which creates a more dangerous riding environment when people don't respect us.

I have an X1 with the Force brand full system (about the loudest bike I have ever heard), a Uly with drummer SS and am XB9S with the race pipe. I have never had a neighbor complain about any of them....in fact they like all of the bikes and their sound, and I contribute this to a few things:
1) MINIMAL warm up time. I fire it up, let it idle about 5 seconds and ride away.
2) I short shift through the neighborhood, keeping revs low.
3) I often coast into the neighborhood and into the driveway, especially if I come home late at night.
4) I NEVER speed through the neighborhood, in fact I usually ride about 18-20 mph.

Some will think that this is silly behavior and they will do what they want. That's fine, but just realize that you are where the squid term comes from and you are NOT doing yourself or riders in general any favors.

Andymnelson, I do the exact same things. Usually let my bike idle while I put on my helmet, cruise with the clutch pulled in and dont overrev the engine while leaving. Like I said, I am fairly positive she had a little liquid courage in her.

Dude , you live in Cleburne ! It was probably meth encouragement ! Just saying .
If she thought that was loud i'll bring my Jardine equipped bike over ! It makes my ears ring on every ride !

It probably was some meth encouraging, its getting worse around here also. Where are you at WALLSXB?

some funny ****, i like the neighbor who ended up with a bloody ear. :D

I must confess that i do piss of my neighbors, but they deserve it. Jackasses always park behind my driveway. Basically leaving me no choice but to give them full demonstrations of my hawk exhaust.

I live out in the country ,well it's kinda when I first bought the house , now there is a few more houses close by, but anyways, it's outside of the city limits. and hell it's OK redneck country around here everybody and their mother has loud exhaust on their vehicles, I have a nieghbor few houses north that has an old 50s chevy car and when he works on it he revs it up and I can hear it in the house , but I like it and go outside to hear it better, and then my neighbor to the east a 1/4 mile away has 70s Chevy Chevelle setup for street/Drag strip , & I can hear him start it up if outside, and he gets on the gas good on it, like on new years eve he drove up & down the highway & back to his house for several hours at 12am to 2am, it sounds awsome loping at the stop sign and taking off, love that sound. and lots of big desiels & loud harleys and looud cars driving down the road all the time. and there is this lady (in her 50s) that rides a HD trike in the summer , pipes not to loud but she loves her country music, you can hear her coming down the road an 1/8 mile away , it's really funny to me because it reminds me of teenagers and there loud music and I like my music loud too. plus there is good fairly level very straight 1/4 mile plus of road in front of the house that gets alot of people speeding and racing down it, and a few wrecks in front of the house from it.but it's really no big deal to me doesnt bother me, or most people around here.

Dang the Neighbors Are the Burbs, No man I ease out of my neighborhood. I have respect for my neighbors due to most of us have helped each other at one time or another. My 1944 john deer Tractor is another deal. I'm kinda in the country so when I hit the pavement Rocker baby, I'm on it.Still though Be Good to your neighbors never know when you might need them. As an reciently retired Marine of 26 years for this country sometimes Quite can be nice .I'm off the road about 1/4 of a mile so yeah guess i made a good choice w/ where I live. Yeah some neighbors are jerks i'm sure we have a few around, but I let them sweat. That way when they need a favor? [smirk]

I Live above a Stereo shop that i work at (we are known to make a lot of noise :) you have to test the systems out). i can get as loud as i want when i want and no one says anything. i have had cops sitting across the street watching traffic and they dont say ****. there have been nights that i have my stereo (house and sometimes shop stereo) blasting and my bike running at 2am (or so) and no one said ****. i dont really know my neighbors even though some of the college girls that roll through, i would love to have them stop by :).

but i always respect the neighbors of my friends and try and coast in when im on the bike or turn the stereo down in my car. you never **** in your own back yard or in your friends yard unless there is a GOOD reason for it :). i have had a reason before :D.

^^^ I second that. My bike is loud as ****. If I come home after 10pm I coast up to my ally and roll in my garage quietly. Old people do need there rest. Plus I don't want to be "that guy"

Old rule of thumb from my bass head days, never bump the stereo where you park your car, or else it will go missing some day.
I always went to a parking lot to set amps, x-overs, etc.

I feel for you guys, been in my houseing development 13 years now, there are about 8 to 11 houses that are owned by cops ,very safe hood, and the one who lives right behind me rides a harley, and we ride together alot.Never an issue, yet.;)

hey racepro if you want I can come over after your neighbor has one her parties and we can have a hawk vs drummer shootout in your driveway early the next morning. Bruce

Im waiting to go home in about 3 weeks and start dog hunting. I have a 100% fenced in yard and some dogs keep digging under my gate to get in and use my yard as their personal *******. My wife says there are about 6 just running loose in our neighborhood. I will say I live in the country and Most people leave there animals out to do whatever, but when it comes to my family and property I will do what needs to be done to protect it. As far as ny negibors go ......I have only meet the one across the street and he is cool....He dosent know about my bike though because its still at my Mother in laws locked up.

No one in my apartment complex has complained, but if they do they've got another thing coming. Between the little dogs barking at night, the neighbors yeilling and screaming and fighting at all hours of the night, I think my Buell is the least of anyone worries.

Sheriff Just told me our county has no service to pick up stray dogs and I am ok to do whatever is necesarry to rid myself of the nusance as long as it takes place on my property. Think im going to start with baited hog traps and go from there.

Tuneport,

I get you man, and dont get me wrong... I wouldnt have bought the damn house if I knew it was going to be this much trouble, but it is my first house, and I had no idea that the HOA could be this picky about what you do or dont do to your own home until after the papers were all signed. I had originally planned on having all of the accomodations for my dogs set up prior to moving them out there, but hit a few snags along the way (nosy neighbors and HOA)I am considering a shock collar, but have to convince my better half that it is humane to use them on the dogs. (she's not convinced)

either way, I have started the build on the wall to keep the dogs confined to a small outside space (away from the other homes, and the inside of the house. I havent even had them out there for a week yet, so no one has really complained.
I try not to piss off my neighbors because like many have said on here, you dont **** where you eat (or something similar).

oh well... such is life.

Happened last summer. My new neighbor just moved in few weeks ago to the house next to mine... So one early morning I'm going to work at 5am, went down the back porch stairs, threw out the garbage, opened up a garage door, push my bike out. Nothing crazy. He's peeking from around the corner saying that I'm breaking in to somebody's garage and trying to steal motorcycle and he's calling cops. I was like WOW. Told him I live here and he can do whatever he wants nosey b#tch. So I started my bike (D&D) to give him some crap and I'm putting my gear on. Yeah, thief that care to warm up a bike and put his gear on, right... So the cops showed up (2 crown vic's and tahoe)! He really called them up and they showed up pretty quick. I had to explain them I live here, showed them my DL and insurance while this dumb ass stands there. Cops left saying nothing to me other than actually apologized but that's their job to check on things. I was like ok I understand. I left showing my neighbor a "bird". I was pissed cause he almost made me late to work but after all I think it's kinda funny. He didn't talk to me at all for a long time. Now he says "hi" when he sees me...

Reminds me of the time that my dad and I were out at my grandmas property dumping the Christmas tree in the woods after Christmas and the neighbor came over and started yelling at us while standing on my grandmas property lol. He called the cops and and they came and we had to go get the damn tree from the woods. He then escorted us out to the main road.

Sure its nice to have neighbors looking out for you but its really a pain in the ass when they don't know its you that they are calling the cops on..

Throwing a tree into the woods isnt littering... wtf, whyd you have to get it?
