so i guess the title explains it. never dealt wiith this before.

can i file with my insurance company? although i don't want to pay my $500 deductible for a $177 windshield?

and someone told me there are places that will do the repair, then file it with your insurance company and THEN EVEN COVER your deductible for you?

not sure

someone chime in please?

easiest and cheapest way possible?

There's no way that glass is getting repaired.
You need a new one.

Here in Arizona pretty much everyone has glass coverage, and I'm nearly certain there isn't a deductable for it.

Call your insurance company and see what they say

damn, i guess ill call the insurance people. i just hate dealing with shit. really glass is covered with no deductable? i wouldn't have thought so

haha and no, truck carring shit hit bump and hammer flew out of bed, into windshield, luckily it didn't damage any paint or anything else at all. tried to chase him down but figured it wasn't worth it. guy probably got his truck up to 85 or so in a 40 mph zone, and wasn't going to bother dealing with cops just for a windshield

In TX there is a deductible on glass also..... mine is $500. I've replace 1 windshield in a pathfinder $275 and the rear glass in my 04 dodge ram $385. Both times it was cheaper to just pay out of pocket for me. I would call you insurance provider and ask..... Yours may be covered with no out of pocket expense.

damn what ins company i have had to replace 2 since in amarillo both cost me nothing.

$500 is my deductable no matter the damage. I use Tx Farm Bueuro. Im currently looking to change because of the fact Ive been with them for 8 yrs with no claims and they wouldnt even budge on the deductable for the glass.

I have progressive. Guess I'll just call them tomorrow. Ill chime back and let you guys know what they say

FYI i have a glass coverage on my policy and its only $100.00 bucks to get my window replaced.

I would contact your insurance company to see what your glass deductible is if you maintain full coverage. If you have glass coverage then almost any auto glass shop can take care of you. I would recommend finding a local shop to support rather than a large corporation such as Safelite. Typically the cheapest installed price is going to come from the mobile-only auto glass installers. If you don't mind spending a little more, I would find a reputable shop. Most will still offer a free mobile service but are more established and likely to be there should an issue ever arise. Hope this helps, any other questions feel free to ask or p.m. I'm an operations supervisor for an auto glass distributor in the in northwest and have knowledge on the other aspects of this wonderful industry [confused]

So is this glass coverage a common thing? Or you only have it if you specifically ask for it?

im only speculating, but windsheilds break rather easily, especially in texas where it gets so damn hot, it seems like that would come standard on a full coverage policy with a $500 deductable. just seems like it anyway

LOL...That sucks big time. You shoulda got the license plate at least.

I'm dealing with the same thing now with my Camaro. I was out racing a friend and my car has a pin-on hood. Pins failed at 130 and hood was sent back into my windshield completely shattering it. If you've got full coverage, usually glass is included at no deductible so you should be fine with it. At least my insurance was that way. Here's a pic of mine. Happened last weekend.

I really think you should switch to an insurance company you feel comfortable talking to. I am not an insurance expert, so I email and call my guy all the time with questions.

IF you have glass coverage, it's probably zero deductible. That is a pretty standard thing.

I got a chip in my windshield on my brand new Explorer 4 days after I drove it off the lot. My insurance company sent out the glass company they usually use and they repaired it in my driveway in 30 minutes. I sent a picture of it to my insurance guy saying it wasn't sufficient (they only fixed it so it would prevent cracking further, but it was still visible and right at eye level of passenger). He sent out the company with a new windshield the next day. Zero deductible.

Just talk to them and figure out what you have and what you need.
